5 out of 5 starsBeautifully made. These unique coffee scoops make perfect gifts - by themselves or along with some specialty coffee or a mug. I own one that we use daily, and I am looking forward to giving these to loved ones this season. I expect to purchase them again in the future, as well. Thank you, Gordon!

5 out of 5 starsA stunningly beautiful red maple hollow form. This hollow form is made from a burl and has great grain patterns with bird's eyes, quilting patterns and flame patterns. Great craftsmanship.

5 out of 5 starsThank you for your for creating our custom request, Gordon. We are more than pleased with how our æbleskiver turning tools turned out. I was surprised at how rare these wooden tools are to come by. We hoped to have ours completely handmade with love, heirloom quality to stand the test of time. My husband was delighted with the craftsmanship! We look forward to using these to make those delicious Danish pancake spheres. Everything is beautifully crafted and exquisitely executed. The lines are smooth, elegant and graceful. They also double as rustic kitchen decor when not in use. I can see these being a nice gift with endless culinary uses. We appreciate you taking the risk while going the extra mile. We couldn't ask for a better Etsy experience. We send our highest regards, thanks ever so much! :)

5 out of 5 starsGordon, I cannot tell you how much my husband and I are overjoyed and so pleased with our maple candlesticks! :) They are truly a thing of beauty, so elegant and timeless! It is such a wonderful-good feeling to cherish something in your home that was made by an artist's hands and heart—especially when it is something you have been admiring for a long time. My husband has a deep respect and admiration for woodworking and carpentry, too. We commend your creative eye and gifted talents. We hope to treasure these exquisitely beautiful, wooden heirlooms forever. Thanks ever so much for your kindness, best wishes!

About GFowlerWood
-
-
I collect logs from trees that have already been cut down or fallen in a storm.
-
I use a chainsaw to cut a bowl blank from the green log.
-
I "rough-out" the blank on the lathe to form a bowl.
-
The rough-turned blank is quite thick so I can turn it again after it dries, in about a year.
-
After I turn it to the final thickness, I sand it, and apply a finish.
Salad bowls and Sculptural Forms using native wood from East Tennessee.
I have always enjoyed working with wood, and in 2001, I was introduced to woodturning. I have learned the craft by taking classes at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and the Kentucky School of Craft. I have learned from mentors, videos, demonstrations, books, and countless hours of trial and error at the lathe. I am a member of Art Market Gallery, a regional artist cooperative; Foothills Craft Guild; American Association of Woodturners.
My goal is to make heirloom woodturnings that my customers will enjoy for decades. I keep an eye on proportions and pleasing curves while combining exquisite wood grain and form.
All of the wood that I use is native to East Tennessee. The trees were blown down by storms or cut down by the homeowners. I especially enjoy recycling these logs, otherwise destined for the landfill or the fireplace, into functional or decorative art.
My wife and I live on 15 acres, surrounded by woods, in our LEED certified home. I enjoy growing our own vegetables, tending the chickens, and cooking. My woodturning, and especially the salad bowls I create, is intertwined with the idea of simple living and enjoying high quality, home grown food.
