Creating visual art is almost as involuntary for me as breathing. Riding in the car, my husband likes to joke that he can tell when I am lost in a new idea because my fingers start moving wildly in the air. I tried many forms of expression, clay sculpture, botanical illustration, and fabric dyeing among the more successful, but when I started working with glass I realized I had found my voice. I like working glass in all forms- stained glass, mosaics, fused glass, hot glass, and enamels. Making sculptural torchwork beads is my favorite technique though. Natural forms have always been the central focus of my work, and the torch allows me to sculpt small floral components and creatures that I can combine into wearable art. creations.
