Beaded baubles are the best!
A Japanese aesthetic describing something which is "imperfect, impermanent and incomplete". A wabi-sabi object exhibits rustic simplicity and may have quirks arising from the way it was made. Its asymmetry, patina and wear contribute to its unique beauty.
Need Earrings? My Elementals and chainmaille danglers use copper, bronze, brass, aluminum, silver and colorful beads!

About

Let's go to the Faire!

There is one place on this earth that holds me firmly by the heartstrings: an enchanting (and possibly enchanted) forest perched upon a small granite island in a deep, clearwater lake – a place my family and forebears have been drawn to each summer for well over 100 years. It’s a wave-lapped paradise with towering oak and pine, where the Wee Folk have been known to visit and magic most certainly happens!

This island, along with other natural places I have known, has nurtured my love of things ancient, traditional, mysterious and mystical. History (the Dark and Middle Ages are my special interest) and myth (King Arthur, Robin Hood), literature (Lord of the Rings) and folklore (Celtic and Norse traditions, mostly) all fascinate, and so does the natural world which wends its way through them all. Wildflowers, herbs and birds are other favorite topics, as is nature and still-life photography.

Although small, the wooded isle is a rich source of raw, natural materials which feed my creative impulses. I only gather what has been cast off: driftwood and fallen branches, tiny quartz and pyrite stones, acorns, feathers … any small treasure that, in its simple, organic beauty, intrigues and inspires, and which may be repurposed into something decorative and wearable.

I also love working with materials used by humankind since antiquity: leather, copper, bronze and brass, aluminum, pewter, stainless steel and silver, as well beautiful semi-precious gemstones with their rich colors and tactile, polished surfaces. Chainmaille, once purely utilitarian, has evolved into a dizzying array of intricate and decorative patterns, all of which force the artist to slow down and create a piece patiently, link by link. I enjoy that process!

Should you wish to exchange or return your purchase for a refund, please contact me immediately upon receipt of your order. Exchanges and refunds will be assessed by me on a case-by-case basis. I may ask you to furnish clear photographs of the item(s) in question. "Refund" refers only to the item price that you paid and does NOT include the original shipping cost(s) paid. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs for exchanges and refunds; do not ask me to cover the cost of shipping the item back to me! Items must be returned unworn. See Final Sale below for refund exceptions.

My items are carefully and well made. Breakage or damage which has occurred due to my workmanship or a faulty component (e.g. a clasp) qualifies for exchange or refund within 60 days of purchase. (I will assess on a case-by-case basis.) However, any item that is misused by the wearer or comes to misadventure (pulling, tugging, twisting, bending, scratching, not following care instructions, etc.), may, like any jewelry, become damaged or break. I cannot be held responsible in such cases, and I will not accept exchanges or returns or issue refunds if it is apparent to me that the breakage occurred due to mishandling, accident or negligence by the recipient.

Each of my listings contains true-to-life photographs, exact and clearly-stated measurements and accurate descriptions for every product. I cannot be held responsible for customers who do not read and/or understand the specified dimensions or any other information included in the listing or this site. I will not accept exchanges or returns or issue refunds in these cases.

No returns/refunds will be accepted or issued after 60 days from the date of purchase.

Shipping
I ship via Canada Post. Shipping costs quoted are based on package weights of 100 grams or less; if your order exceeds this weight, I will contact you with the updated shipping cost prior to processing your order.

Shipping methods for all items except Faerie Flasks:
• Within Canada – Regular Lettermail (no tracking or insurance)
• To U.S. – Light Packet Air (no tracking or insurance)
• Everywhere else – Light Packet Air International (no tracking or insurance)

Faerie Flasks ship at a higher rate due to the item dimensions:
• Within Canada – Expedited Parcel (includes tracking and up to $100 insurance)
• Shipping to Canadian provinces other than Ontario or Quebec incurs a fuel surcharge. Please contact me BEFORE checkout for a shipping quote.
• Outside Canada – Small Packet Air U.S./International (no tracking or insurance)

I do not offer shipping upgrades.

Estimated transit times for shipped items:
Within Canada - 3 to 7 business days
To the United States - 10 to 15 business days
Everywhere else - 10 to 25 business days

Wood items shipping outside Canada are subject to customs inspection before being released by border services. To facilitate inspection and help avoid delays, I leave the gift box open with ends unfolded. The box is then carefully sealed inside a bubble mailer envelope. If the packaging or item arrives damaged, it is a result of the customs inspection or mishandling within the postal system.

The buyer is responsible for any customs fees, duties, taxes, tariffs or other incurred costs. Buyers are responsible for ensuring that their purchases meet the destination country’s import regulations. I cannot be held responsible for parcels which are unreleased, delayed or non-delivered due to border regulations, and I cannot issue refunds in these circumstances.
Additional policies and FAQs
Item Color/Appearance
• I photograph my products in natural light and do my best to depict the true color of each item. Please allow for slight variations on different monitors/devices.

Sizing
• Be sure to measure for necklace/bracelet length and ring size prior to ordering to ensure a perfect fit; total length always includes the clasp. Precise item dimensions are always included in each listing; please be sure to read and understand these measurements before placing an order.

Care Instructions -- Wood
• Wood items are not waterproof. Do not get them wet or expose to chemicals such as perfume, hairspray or furniture polish. Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. The beeswax topcoat can be buffed gently with a soft cloth to restore sheen. You may also occasionally add a tiny dab of beeswax polish (I use Clapham’s Beeswax Polish™); rub into all surfaces with cheesecloth. Let dry for 5 minutes, then buff off the excess and allow to dry. Do not sand. Store in a separate pouch away from other jewelry.

Care Instructions -- Leather
• All leather pieces except for the bags have been given a leather finish which provides some water repellency. Wipe clean with a barely-damp cloth and let dry thoroughly.

Care Instructions -- Faerie Flasks
• Unless otherwise stated in the listing, my Faerie Flasks have been permanently sealed with strong adhesive; please do not try to open the bottle. Do not wear while bathing, exercising or sleeping.

Care Instructions -- Metal
• Solid metal items with no patina or protective wax/coating: Stainless steel, pewter and bright aluminum do not tarnish and can be cleaned with soap and water or a soft cloth. (Do not use acids such as lemon juice on bright aluminum.) Copper, bronze and brass will oxidize over time. You can enjoy your piece as it weathers and darkens naturally, or you may wish to keep it bright by wiping gently with a soft cloth after each use and storing immediately in a Ziploc bag. Tarnished copper, bronze and brass can be dipped for a few seconds in lemon juice; rinse well with dish soap and warm water and dry thoroughly. Metal-specific jewelry polishing cloths, Pro Polish or Shine Rite pads, or solutions such as Brasso can be used on tarnished brass, copper or bronze, but do not use microabrasive pads or chemicals on textured metal. Take off your jewelry before bathing, swimming, exercising or sleeping, and do not expose to perfume or hairspray.

• Items with plating/patina/protective coating: Wipe gently with a soft, non-abrasive cloth to clean. Do not scrub or use jewelry polishing cloths, chemicals or lemon juice, as these will erode the coating and disturb the patina. I use either Canadian-made Conservator’s Wax™ (similar to Renaissance Wax) or PYM II acrylic sealant to protect patinas and help slow down further oxidization.

• Items with Gilder’s paste wax: This highlighting technique should not fade as long as you don’t scrub or polish it away. Do not wear while bathing or swimming. Clean by wiping gently with a soft cloth.

Care Instructions -- Chainmaille
• Anodized aluminum has a permanent color coating that does not tarnish. Darker colors may show a slight lighter line where the rings are joined. It's normal to see minor working marks on some chainmaille -- a sign your piece was handmade! Stainless steel and bright aluminum are hypoallergenic and do not tarnish. Stainless steel does not require any special care, but do not use lemon juice or chemicals on bright aluminum (microabrasive pads are okay). Copper, brass and bronze will oxidize over time; please follow Care Instructions -- Metal (solid metal).

Care Instructions -- Beaded Jewelry
• While it’s okay to get these items wet occasionally (e.g. while washing hands), it is not advisable to wear while bathing, exercising or sleeping. To clean, wipe off skin oils with a soft cloth and store in an airtight pouch. Sterling silver, solid brass, bronze and copper components may be polished, but avoid the gemstones or glass beads. Do not polish plated pieces.

What is Metal Gauge?
Gauge (ga) refers to the thickness of a metal sheet or wire. The smaller the gauge number, the thicker the metal. I use the following gauges in my jewelry:

14 ga -- 1.897 to 2.0 mm
16 ga -- 1.519 to 1.59 mm
18 ga -- 1.214 mm
19 ga -- 1.0 mm
20 ga -- 0.81 to 0.912 mm
