Every bead and every piece of jewelry has been hand made and is, therefore, organic. No two beads and/or pieces will be the same.

Please note that each clay piece I create has been properly conditioned, constructed, and cured. In addition, I sand and polish every piece to a high sheen and coat the piece with several coats of a high gloss glaze Varathane.

All art prints are made using a large format Epson printer with archival inks (Epson) on archival paper (Epson or HP)

All images copyright Gingerblue Studios and may not be used without direct permission from the artist.

About

Once upon a time...

Bottom line:
There's something really breathtaking about watching a liquid color dance across the the surface of a smooth bead or the surface of a canvas. It's pure magic, in technicolor.

The fact I get to witness all of that just by pulling out my supplies and getting to work makes me feel like I am part of something special.

It's a bit of a contemplative practice, as well, because thought has to be put into color and placement and the way the colors will interact. So it's kind of like a science, as well.

Each bead, each collage, each drawing, each painting I create is a labor of love onto itself. The process takes hours and lots of patience and observation. But I love it, so I keep doing it. And I want to share that little bit of magic, and possibility, and movement, and mindfulness, and feeling, and vibrancy with other people.

That's why I make art. I hope you enjoy the finished pieces as much as I enjoy making them.

--------
Common questions, right off the bat :)
**Do you sell your beads individually?
Not often, but from time to time I make part of my stash available for purchase. The bead-making process is too time-consuming so the cost of individual beads can be prohibitive. It literally takes hours to dye/paint each bead.

**Do you do special orders/custom orders?
Unfortunately, no. I’ll be honest- I can be a perfectionist. So when I’m trying to create someone else’s vision, a lot of the inspiration and whimsy that fuels my work is dampened, and it becomes a more about anxiety and less about creativity.

The only way I'd consider a custom order is if you sent me a color palette (say from a photo or swatch of fabric) and let me figure the rest out. If that appeals to you, let me know.

-------
Okay, now that we got the typical questions out of the way, let's talk...
**What is Gingerblue Studios?
Gingerblue Studios is a small, private art studio located on Marco Island, a tiny island located just north of the Everglades in Southwest Florida.

**What are Gingerblue Beads?
Gingerblue Beads are handmade beads and jewelry.

All the focal beads are made by hand using an artist’s clay (also known as polymer clay). Each and every bead is then individually dyed or painted by hand, resulting in tiny, vibrant works of art that can be worn.

Those hand-dyed beads are used to create jewelry, along with other high-quality beads and findings.

Because every bead is made from hand and from scratch, no two are alike. Every bead is unique and has its own characteristics. I’m an artist, not a manufacturer, and I really enjoy taking my time and making something beautiful as opposed to churning out hundreds of items that look identical and perfectly uniform.

**What's the deal with polymer clay?
The lightweight nature of this kind of clay makes it a perfect choice for the heart of a bead- I can create a smooth surface for the dyes and inks I use to paint my beads, and it’s incredibly comfortable to wear and will resist chipping, fading, and breakage. Polymer clay is pretty much indestructible and much more durable than even the most hearty of ceramic and glass pieces.

Each clay piece I create has been properly conditioned, constructed, and cured. In addition, I sand and polish every piece to a high sheen and coat the piece with several coats of a high gloss glaze Varathane. The sanding and polishing process actually takes over 100 hours.

All my jewelry pieces are finished using the highest quality materials; glass and crystal spacer beads, durable filament and coated nylon, sterling silver and gold filled wire, and high polish electroplated strong-foundation metal findings and crimp beads.

**Some tips for helping your jewelry last forever:
- put your perfume on *before* your jewelry (the alcohols in perfumes can be rough on *all* beaded jewelry)
- polish your pieces every so often with a soft cloth to keep the metals from oxidizing
- store your jewelry in a soft, dry place.

**What about the illustration/paintings/prints/cards, etc.?
All printed media is printed on 100% archival paper, either Epson Professional Grade papers, Epson photo papers, HP photo papers, or cold press 140 LB watercolor paper using one of two Epson professional printers using Epson archival pigment inks. All paper goods and prints will be signed/dated very lightly. The purchase of ANY paper good product and/or print does not transfer reproduction rights.

**Do you donate your art for charity auctions/non-profit fundraisers?
Yes- if I have something available, or can put something together by the event deadline, I would be happy to help out! Please get in touch. My only request for you is to PLEASE be flexible about the details of the work that is to be donated.

Gingerblue Beads makes handmade beads and jewelry. All the focal beads are made by hand using an artist's clay (also known as polymer clay). We then create jewelry from those handmade beads, along with other high-quality beads and findings.

Polymer clay cures at a much lower temperatures than traditional clays, so a special kiln is not required. Polymer clay's lightweight nature makes it perfect for jewelry- it's incredibly comfortable to wear. In addition, polymer clay pieces will resist chipping, fading, and breakage and are much more durable than even the most hearty of ceramic and glass pieces.

Each clay piece I create has been properly conditioned, constructed, and cured. In addition, I sand and polish every piece to a high sheen and coat the piece with several coats of a high gloss glaze Varathane. The sanding and polishing process actually takes over 100 hours.

All my jewelry pieces are finished using the highest quality materials; glass and crystal spacer beads, durable filament and coated nylon, sterling silver and gold filled wire, and high polish metal findings and crimp beads. I offer a full guarantee on all my pieces- if any piece becomes damaged through normal use, I will happily repair the piece to the best of my ability.

Some tips for making your jewelry last forever: put your perfume on *before* your jewelry (the alcohols in perfumes can be rough on *all* beaded jewelry), polish your pieces every so often with a soft cloth, and store your jewelry in a soft, dry place.
