About

Making new stuff out of old stuff

For years I squirrelled away fabric scraps with pretty patterns, paper and card which was too pristine simply to recycle, old photographs with glimpses into the past and transportation tickets which told a story. I began to make gifts, pictures, notebooks, letters and tags from these found objects and share them with friends. My letters and gifts crossed the world and I loved hearing from their recipients.

The internet came along, and we started to communicate over email, facebook, skype... but I never forgot my love of stationery, and it seems that a gift in person, or a letter in the mail has never gone out of style. So you find me here, today, making new and interesting things from the discarded, the rescued and the much-loved.

Hi and welcome to my shop, I'm delighted to have you!

My name is Katy and I live and work in Scotland, although I was born and raised in Manchester, England, and have lived, studied and worked in Paris, France and New York in the USA.

Girl Industries is an alumna member of Glasgow Craft Mafia and a number of Etsy teams, including Glasgow Etsy Team.

I'm also www.worsleyrepresent.etsy.com and www.littluns.etsy.com

Payment
I only accept payment by PayPal or Etsy's direct payments facility - you pay Etsy, and they pay me.

If you're new to Etsy and haven't been through the payment process before, here's a handy guide: http://tinyurl.com/6czaz3

If you make a purchase in error, contact me as soon as possible so we can cancel before it's shipped to you.
Shipping
I ship first class in the UK and air mail to everywhere else, unless it's a really heavy item and it wouldn't be cost effective (or possible) to send by air. This will be clear in the item description.

Please note that I'm an eco-friendly seller, I don't include printed packing notes or receipts in with my orders unless requested.

Turnaround time for most orders to be fulfilled is within three working days. For delivery, please add an average of two days for orders placed within the UK, five working days for EU and up to ten working days for the rest of the world. This is a service estimate provided by Royal Mail and is not a guarantee of local service provision or speed. If you need a package by a specific date, e.g. for a wedding, party or event, please allow a minimum of 4 weeks from date of payment for non UK orders, and 1 week for all UK orders to be delivered. If your order is delayed by your local carrier, I can provide documentation to support any insurance claim you can make locally.

Please note that last minute/rush orders will be dispatched on the same day as payment is received, but are completed at entirely your own risk.

Goods are only shipped on receipt of your PayPal payment.

To keep on the green side, and to better protect your item(s) during transit, I may use clean and sturdy repurposed stationery/packing materials. If your item is clearly being sent direct to a gift recipient, I'll use all new and pretty packaging. If your item is not a gift, but you would prefer all-new packaging, I don't mind arranging this for you.
Refunds and Exchanges
If your purchased product doesn't arrive within two weeks, please let me know as soon as you can so that we can resolve the issue promptly.

I obtain proof of posting with all my items, which covers your purchase for damage and loss to a value of $30 approximately. If your order is worth more than $30, I will split the shipment into smaller packages if possible, as the extra shipping costs are more than worth it for the insurance offered. This insurance is not valid until 28 days have elapsed, to account for seasonal delays, holdups in customs (UK or local to you) and administrative processes. This is the insurer's deadline and is outwith my control.

If your item is more expensive, and the order can't be split. please consider buying additional insurance. We can discuss this upgrade when arranging your order.

While many of my items are one of a kind, and as such, not really replaceable, if something does happen to your package, I will endeavour to replace it to your satisfaction. Customer service is important to me!
Additional policies and FAQs
I welcome custom orders, particularly if you have an idea for something I already offer but with personalisation, or if you need something I sell in a bigger quantity, different size or colour. Just send me a message through Etsy's 'contact me' feature and we'll work something out!

As a trained linguist and professional writer of some fifteen years, I have helped Etsians to proofread listings and perfect their English translations without losing any of their individual charm or the personality of the shopkeeper. If this would interest you, please drop me a line so we can agree a proofing package. Please note, I am no SEO expert - this is about grammar, spelling, copy and context!
