I work on the glass (upside down and backwards) from the opposite surface while looking through it.

I use a black marker to draw guidelines before cutting a name into the mug.
Bringing my family trade to Etsy
I have been cutting glass pretty much my entire adult life. I learned this family trade from my mother who learned from her father. Unfortunately, I did not begin my training until my grandfather's journey here on earth came to an end so I never got to experience working with him. I do however have great memories as a little girl watching him in his glass workshop where he spent most if his waking hours, just a few steps outside of his Florida home.
Although I didn't work with Grandpa, I was fortunate enough to work side by side with my mother for over 16 years in several different marketplaces including shopping malls, flea markets, craft fairs, home parties, home & bridal shows and for the last 5 years of her business in her retail store. After she retired from the glass business to pursue other passions in life I too took a little time off for some self discoveries of my own.
After re-discovering my undying love with this art a few short years later I found myself dreaming my passion in new ways. I wanted to have an outlet where I could create and offer my stone wheel engraving with new fresh products that combine the old worlde technique with practical glassware that could be used everyday. I wanted to create pieces that remind us to celebrate life, that are personal, make memorable keepsakes and for some, also become a family heirloom. It was then that three different friends of mind suggested I take a look at Etsy. I did and fell in love. My Etsy shop has been very successful and I am so grateful for the path that it has lead me on.
Since opening my shop here about 2 years ago I have grown to need extra help. What's really cool is my mother and I are a team again working together in this fascinating business that my Grandfather started over 50 years ago. She helps with many aspects in the business. I feel so fortunate everyday for customer's that value what I do, who support my business and for the endless possibilities ahead!
My Uncle who also practices our trade continually reminds me of how proud Grandpa would be of what I have done with our family business. Back then Grandpa and Uncle Jim both traveled all over the county with their Spatzier lathe and a truckload of glassware just to be able to reach a fraction of the audience that Etsy now reaches.
Dream until your dreams come true and then dream more!

Additional policies and FAQs
You may need a custom listing created for you if you need more or less glasses than what is shown in the listing or if you need any additional lettering.
If you still not sure, just message me your quantity and lettering and I will either direct you to the existing listing for you to purchase or create a custom listing for you.
Letterstyles: When browsing through my shop listings you will notice that I engrave a few different letterstyle with my stone wheel. You can view wheel cut lettering options at www.glassgirljen.blogspot.com (letterstyle tab at the top of page) . All wheel cut letterstyles are a block style due to the natural of working on a stone wheel. I will engrave your letters just as the sample photo shows in the listing that you purchase. If you prefer a different letterstyle other than what is shown in the listing sample photo that you are purchasing please include a note in the NOTES TO SELLER SECTION at checkout along with your engraving info and/or any other special requests.
*Script lettering is done with a diamond tip drill and is used for small lettering such as adding a date. Names can also be done in the script lettering however they will be much smaller than any of the block letters that you see in my photos. There is an additional charge for additional lettering.
Packaging: Please rest assured that your items will be packaged with care. Wheel engraved glassware will be sparkling clean and includes a hang tag with a brief detail of the stone wheel engraving process. Each piece is then wrapped and packed in clean, new brown corrugated shipping boxes with tissue or packing paper, bubble wrap and packing peanuts. Please send me a convo if you would like and I will be happy to enclose a hand written note for a gift recipient.
Feedback: If you are a happy customer please let me know, I love positive feedback :) I do not believe that there should ever be a need for negative feedback, if something is not right for you please let me know so we can make it right. I do not leave negative feedback.
