Unfired clay with sgraffito drawing completed. This will need to dry some more & then into the kiln for bisque firing.
Owl Moon Box. A new direction for me. Merging owls with kimono patterns...two favorites.
ARTservancy residency, 2019-2020. Sponsors: Ozaukee County Land Trust, Gallery 224 and River Revitalization Foundation.
Pink won't last! This is clear overglaze on pottery for a final firing. The real colors are under there!!
Sgraffito is a method of scrapping away an under glaze to reveal the color beneathe...the white clay.

A creative Life … Glenda Puhek Pottery

I've found drawing to be the best way to see and understand the world...it's always been a part of my life.

Clay is so interactive. It's elasticity is forgiving. It's alive...so it requires me to be present with it.

Drawing in clay by using a scraffito technique gives my images tactility, permanence and functionality. The color doesn't fade.
