An inspired beginning...
My handmade pens and other wood crafts are a continuing development of my being inspired by a handmade pen purchased from a retired Navy member while camping several years ago. I was moved to try making pens and offering them for others to enjoy.
A number of my Army brothers and sisters supported my efforts by purchasing nearly 100 pens during the final year of my retiree recall tour at Ft. Knox, KY. This permitted the learning of new skills and exploration of new products and techniques.
As the son of a Wisconsin dairy farmer I learned the values of honesty, hard work, attention to detail and always doing your best. My father also taught me my first woodworking skills which were used building, maintaining and repairing such things as feed bunks and wagons, fences and buildings in use on the farm.
These skills were further developed when put to use doing DIY projects and maintaining my own homes. This culminated when my wife and I finished the basement in our home adding a family room, bathroom, hallway, her craft room and my first wood working shop. We use and enjoy these spaces still.
