♦ Colors and Descriptions:
Because glass is very reflective it can be difficult to photograph, so I try to capture each piece from several angles.

Color-shifting dichroic glass ALWAYS looks more spectacular in person!

Each item is unique, so please take note of the stated dimensions and all information in the descriptions before you purchase. I try to describe the colors and sizes as accurately as possible. Computer monitors can display the same photos slightly differently, and saturation varies from monitor to monitor.

♦ Process:
The process for glass fusing includes selection of art glass in sheet form, planning and design, cutting, shaping, cleaning, and combining the various elements and layers. Once the design is ready I fire it in my kiln at around 1400-1600 degrees (depending on the desired outcome) until the glass is permanently melted together into a solid piece. The final firing, over molds, adds the shape.

Sparkle, Color and Reflection!

I enjoy creating beautiful, functional art in the form of accessories and home decor. The material I use is art glass (similar to stained glass and blown glass) that can be fused / shaped / kiln-carved, at temperatures between 1300 and 1700 degrees Fahrenheit (the "warm glass" category). Warm glass work involves fusing, slumping, and other glass-forming processes that take place in a kiln. Glassblowers work at temperatures that can exceed 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, and that is referred to as "hot glass".

I love every part of the process - the challenges, the sparkle and shimmer, and the amazing relationship that glass has with light. Inspiration often starts with a specific idea, but sometimes after I stare at the glass a while (and it stares back), what I intended to do becomes something else entirely. That’s what I love most; the creative process guides me where I am *supposed* to go.

Everything about my work with glass is home grown quality, it's made from sheets of art glass produced in the USA. The glass is hand cut and shaped in my home workshop, then permanently fused into the final product in my kiln. The slow, programmed cooling process (annealing) hardens the glass. (Obviously I don't make the metal barrette clips or the light fixtures.)

IF YOU WANT DETAILS, HERE'S THE PROCESS

Projects are "fluid", in that there are several pieces in progress in different stages at any given time. When you buy handmade, it's helpful to be aware of the artist's process. Glass fusing is not something you do in one day or one sitting. Here's why:

- Shopping for glass supplies and tools, unpacking, cleaning and organizing them all in the studio is just the beginning. All artisans have to spend administrative time on things like searching for materials, placing orders, tracking expenses and so on, so I won’t go into all that.
- Sheet glass and smaller scrap pieces of glass need to be sorted by type and color.
- Glass is moved to the cutting table once I decide on a design.
- Once major cuts are completed, there is always some nipping, refining and shaping to be done. No glass goes to waste, not even the little bits. Glass scraps are continually sorted by color size, and type, to be incorporated into future projects.
- The glass elements are cleaned at EACH step of the process until finally placed into the kiln. This keeps foreign substances from marring the clarity and beauty of the glass.
- At the far end of the cutting table there are assembled pieces waiting for their turn in the kiln. Depending on the outcome desired, they will be fired at different temperatures, so they are sorted into their appropriate categories. When there is enough of one category to fill the kiln, they will be fired.
- After coming out of the kiln some pieces need refinement, and are then added to the line of pieces waiting to be cold worked (hand filed or smoothed out on the grinder). These pieces then have to be returned to the kiln for a final fire polish.
- There are pieces that get re-fired for the purpose of adding more design elements.
- Some pieces will be returned to the kiln again, to be further shaped with a mold.
- And then there is the time spent cleaning the work area, cleaning & repairing equipment, and mixing and reapplying kiln wash.
- Technical aspects of glass have to be factored into my projects – coefficient of expansion, glass maker, glass type, proper annealing, and calculating firing schedules.
- Photographing the pieces is usually a challenge because glass is so reflective, and some colors are more difficult than others. Be aware that monitors may display colors slightly differently - I try to describe items as accurately as I can.

Working with glass can be messy, dirty, wet, hazardous, and sometimes a bit bloody – requiring a band-aid here and there - but I enjoy it. I have fun experimenting to see how many ways I can combine and reshape glass. I hope you will check back OFTEN to see what I've created.

QUESTIONS:
You can always contact me with questions using Etsy's "contact" tool.

VERIFY YOUR ADDRESS
Please make sure that your shipping address is up to date with Etsy records. The address on record is provided by you, and I ship to the address on record. The address you provided is automatically populated in Etsy's shipping form. As a result, I cannot accept responsibility for misdirected packages.

If your address does not fit the format of Etsy's automatic shipping label (i.e extremely long line of text) it will prevent me from creating a shipping label, and will have no choice but to cancel your order. I will attempt to contact you first to let you know.

If a package is returned to me undelivered, I will try to contact you to see if there was an error in your shipping information. If the address you provided in Etsy was wrong, you'll be responsible for additional shipping costs to ship it to you again. I'll reship your package once you verify that your given address in Etsy is corrected, and payment to re-ship is received.
- If you indicate that you don't want the merchandise, I'll issue a refund minus the shipping fee.
- If I don't hear back from you within one week, I'll issue a refund minus the cost of shipping.

Please watch the progress of your shipment via the USPS tracking number provided in your confirmation email. Once it is on record as having been delivered, verify that you did receive it.

TIPS FOR LOCATING YOUR MISSING PACKAGE:
- Check your mailbox, your porch, and around your garage door.
- If you do not find it at your home, check with your neighbors to see if they were asked to hold it for you.
- If none of them has it, contact your local USPS immediately and provide them with the tracking information so they can help to track it down. They'll have a record of where it was delivered.

The tracking number enables you to locate the package at your end. USUALLY the missing package is being held for you by a neighbor, or USPS delivered it to a wrong address in your area and can retrieve it for you.

Legally, sellers are not responsible for lost or stolen packages.

ALTERNATE SHIPPING ADDRESS
If you want to ship a package to an address other than your own, you have the option to add additional shipping addresses within your account. Do that BEFORE making your purchase.

At checkout, you will be prompted to select the address to which the package should be sent. This address will automatically appear in the Etsy-generated shipping form that I purchase, print, and use to ship the item.
