My stitch markers are made with solid rings** so they are easy to transfer from one needle to the other plus there are no edges to snag on delicate fibers. Every listing states the maximum size of needles for the rings. If you see a set you like but would like bigger OR smaller rings, just ask. Usually it is no problem to switch them for you at no additional cost!
** If you are a crocheter, I can convert almost any set to closable-style hooks. Just put a note in the Comments box at Check Out to let me know you'd like them converted.

My spinning fiber is 100% Canadian (unless otherwise listed) and processed in eco-friendly ways! This also preserves the best qualities of the fiber that chemical processing strips away. Different breeds and different fiber preps give you lots of choices! Take a spin outside your comfort zone and try something new!

All my handspun is made with great care - I'd never sell a skein I wouldn't love to knit with myself!
I'm also a fan of BIG skeins of yarn! I hate joining balls when I'm knitting so I strive for bigger-than-commercial-size skeins so you can simply enjoy knitting without the nuisance of ends to work in after.
If you find the oversize skeins a bit daunting, I will wind into center pull balls, free of charge, any skein over 300 yards. But you MUST ask at the time of purchase, because skeins are easier to ship than balls so it takes a bit more time to get the right packing for them.

Buttons are new to the shop and I am always adding more styles and colors! Although I don't make them myself, the quality and variety are great!

I gave this beautiful charm for her iPhone as a thank you. An impressive spinning class she conducted. She was so thrilled.

Wonderful markers to use when after I spin I use the markers to my spun yarn I'm going to knit. I get quite an enjoyment looking at how real each marker looks. Makes my spinning group jealous.

About

Spinner, Knitter and Fiber-Lover

I started out as a knitter, then progressed into spinning my own yarns. Add in an obsessive love of beads and buttons and things transformed from there....

I hand craft all the stitch markers, row counters, stitch marker keepers (and of course, all the handspun yarn)! I love working with sparkly, pretty things, but what started it all really, in my many years as a knitter I was dissatisfied with little plastic loops for stitch markers that were a pain to move from one needle to another or disappeared under furniture when they fell off, or floppy yarn loop markers that got stuck in my stitches! I remember seeing stitch markers that were a bead on a metal ring. They looked nice but took up space right at the needles, competing with the stitches. So I made some for myself that had the beads hanging below. What I liked was that the added weight meant the rings moved along the needles like the stitches because the weight of the knitting pulls down on the stitches and you can move them easily with the needle point. With the weight of the dangle part, my stitch markers behaved like stitches and I never had to fight or fiddle with them to get them from one needle to the other. It seems like a small thing, I know, but my fellow knitters all know what I'm talking about. Anything that keeps you knitting smoothly along is a good thing!

When I first started making stitch markers they were all small and understated. Over time, I have learned that large and heavy stitch markers can be just as functional, and in some cases a better choice, like when knitting with bulky yarns and big needles. It didn't hurt to feed my obsession with charms either!

I am always my own guinea pig, trying out new ideas on my own knitting first and then modifying a design (or dumping it) if it's not working right. My personal collection of stitch markers is somewhat expansive which lead me to the idea of making stitch marker keepers to hold favorite sets, making them travel-friendly as well as organizing them. My first choice is the spring-loaded hasp, so you can get just one marker off the ring - in fact any specific marker you want - without all the others falling off too. It's also super easy to put them back on without the worry of playing pick-up every time you touch the keeper.

My oldest daughter crochets and wanted stitch markers so it didn't take long to realize crocheters have different needs in notions than knitters. It's one of the biggest reasons my Row Counters and other notions are clip-able and all my stitch markers are listed with a note that I can convert them to clips. Always, durability and function take first place!

The buttons came along when I wanted nice wooden buttons to finish a favorite knitted project but just couldn't find the right ones. After a long search I found a super line of buttons! Although I don't make them myself, I make sure every style listed is great quality so they will last as long as your project does! I am always looking for new and awesome buttons. You never know what I may find next but I never carry anything I don't love or wouldn't use myself, so there's no "junky" anything in my shop! I am totally committed to quality!

I am an avid hand spinner and learned early on that most commercially prepared fiber is not at optimal quality due to chemical stripping to remove stains and vegetation bits, combined with harsh mechanical processing due to large volume production and the end product, although squeaky clean, will likely not make heirlooms that will last for generations due to weakened fiber and residues. In my search for quality I learned that sometimes you have to make small sacrifices (like putting up with removing the odd bits of Alpaca guard hair or vegetation) but they pay off in spectacular hand spun yarns, truly a worthy vehicle for your effort and skill!
All the spinning fiber in my shop is Canadian-grown and processed by hand in an eco-friendly mini-mill in Alberta Canada, with only bio-degradable soap. No chemical strippers are used, preserving the very best qualities of the fiber! It is a pleasure to spin and the resulting yarns are heirloom-worthy!
I am proud to share recent customer feedback from her blog: lovinglyhooked.com/2013/12/18/recommended-vendor-gloriapatre-spin-n-knit/
