I like to make things, and I need to make a living. Might as well make it marvelous.

My very first childhood ambition was to have red hair, sit on rocks singing all day, and get married on a boat. Then my mom told me that being The Little Mermaid wasn't a good career choice. So I opted for being an artist.

I recently earned my BFA from The Cleveland Institute of Art, where I studied everything from Animation to Enameling, with plenty of classes in Fiber & Material Studies and Film, Video & Photographic Arts along the way. With an incessant interest in bygone eras, and a strong feeling that I should have been born in 1936, my studies led me to creating work about the figures in old photographs found at flea markets and thrift stores. Creating characters and giving them narratives, all based on original photographs, my senior thesis manifested in the form of a video installation featuring silkscreened tapestries which created an organic, ghostly screen onto which I projected hand drawn animations which extended the narratives beyond the frame of the image.

Needless to say, I need to keep my hands busy. So when I'm not animating one frame at a time, or embroidering old handkerchiefs, I'm dreaming up marvelous things. From one of a kind dreamcatchers with embroidered feathers, to Whimsy Scout books and accessories, I have ideas to share.

Welcome to Golden Cat Studios, home of wonderful, marvelous things!

Q. What the heck is FREE MOTION MACHINE EMBROIDERY? Is that where you program a sewing machine and it sews the design for you?
A. No way! Free motion means just that--no hoops hooked up to computers here. Basically, I hold the embroidery hoop and move it around a sewing machine needle to draw. The machine makes the stitches, but I make the drawings.

Q. My friend just got the coolest MERIT BADGE! Can you make another one just like it?
A. I can replicate the design of a merit badge, however, I can't promise it will look exactly the same. All of the merit badges are hand embroidered, and the designs drawn only with thread...there's no pattern! Which means, they don't usually turn out perfectly round (boring!), and no two will ever be identical.

Q. How do you come up with your PRICES?
A. Most of my products use very little materials. Some string, a few scraps of fabric, a few beads, etc. But it is my time and labor that turns these materials into something marvelous. Most of the price accounts for just that. Since none of the embroidery is done by a programmed machine, it takes a little while to make something wonderful.

Q. I love your [dreamcatchers / merit badges / pocket friends]! But I would really like something specific. Do you do CUSTOM ORDERS?
A. Of course I do! Message me with any questions by clicking "Request Custom Item" in the left tab. Depending on the order and my schedule, it may take up to 2 weeks for me to complete and ship the order. If you have concerns about receiving it by a certain date, please include that information in the message.

Q. Wow! You're stuff is super awesome! Can I buy WHOLESALE from you?
A. Unfortunately, just about all of my stuff is one of a kind, which makes wholesale orders a little difficult. Time is spent choosing colors for each dreamcatcher and sketching patterns for each merit badge, not to mention, it's nearly impossible for me to create multiples that look almost exactly the same due to the nature of embroidery.

Q. I'd like to buy a bunch of [dreamcatchers / merit badges / pocket friends] to give as gifts. Do you do discounts on BULK ORDERS?
A. Now that I can do! If you are planning on buying more than a few of the same product, send me a message and we'll see if we can work something out.
