About

The Accidental Business

As a stay-at-home mom, my goal was to have a little play money and hopefully enough money to buy gifts for my honey without having to use money he earned. A few months after opening, with only a handful of sales, mostly to friends, I closed down the shop for a cross country move. It was closed for almost a year.

Little did I know, the shop would quickly find it's niche in bakeware. I re-opened in December of 2010. thinking I could sell one or two items. I sold 13 Pyrex and hardly believe my success!

I started out using a nasty chemical to "etch" the dishes. I used that for a full year. It ruined my kitchen sink. I'm sure it was bad for our health as well as the environment. The spring and summer went well. I was giddy from each new sale. It feels good for people to like what I can make.

The following Christmas in 2011, we were really busy. My husband took a leave of absence from work to help out for a full month.

With my husband's looming deployment to Afghanistan, we knew there would be no way I would survive Christmas 2012 without something changing. We purchased a laser system and used the next few months until he left "getting to know" our new equipment.

With him safely back on US soil, I'm feeling blessed in so many ways; I have a wonderful family, great customers, and a fun business that turned from a "gift money business" in to a real business - my accidental business.

**Update 10/26/15**

Kevin has been working full time on our business - now two shops - since the fall of 2013 and has been kept busier than we had hoped for. He is still in the National Guard as a pilot. We added another family member last year and also began homeschooling.

Hi! Welcome to GoneGirly. I chose my shop name because it defies my "tomboy" childhood :) I am a military wife and stay-at-home mom to two little ones.

I enjoy creating and Etsy has been a wonderful outlet for me. I reserve Sunday as a day off to spend in worship and undivided attention to my family.

Each item shipped with include a delivery confirmation AND insurance.

Please email me before you submit a return. You are responsible for return shipping and your refund will be for the item amount (not shipping) once I have received your order.

You are responsible for approving the design prior to engraving. Any spelling mistakes or other mistakes that are engraved into the dish based off the approved design are non-refundable.

Damage hardly ever happens in shipping - but if an item is damaged in shipping, please contact me right away. If you haven't opened your box yet, please contact me first. PLEASE take into consideration that an item can arrive broken and allow for enough time for me to ship a replacement.

Please note - the glass will not be "perfect" I've yet to see one completely perfect from the manufactures. The sometimes have a little swirl or slightly uneven edge. This is just a result of manufacturing process. These are not 2nd quality that I'm engraving.

I do weed out obviously flawed dishes that sometimes make my way in to the batch from Pyrex. If you feel your dish is flawed beyond minor, please contact me with photos and we'll figure something out.
Additional policies and FAQs
The bakeware will hardly ever be completely blemish free. It's the nature of how it is made. I do not engrave on ones with obvious flaws, please be understanding that this glass can a little bit of character additions :)

Custom orders are welcome!

1. Dishwasher, Oven, Microwave, Freezer Safe?
- Yes! All dishes are still all of the above. However, I would caution the rapid temperature changes as stated on the bottom of the dishes. They can burst. Also, do not use on stove or direct heat.

- The stainless serving items are hand-wash only. Please don't use in microwaves or ovens either. Let's not start any fires, okay?

2. Will engravings scratch off?
- No. Scratches in glass are white, so they are there to stay.

3. Can you include a note so they know from whom the gift comes?
- Yes, absolutely. I would love to. And by that I mean, force my handsome husband into using his beautiful fountain pen calligraphy writing whenever I can! (sometimes he's at work though, and my cursive will have to suffice)

4. How do you wrap them?
- I use up-cycled aviation maps that my husband brings me home from work once they are out of commission. Many of them fly missions with him around beautiful Idaho and surrounding areas in an Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopter. Once wrapped around your dish, I tie it up with jute twine.

5. Can you please leave out the invoice as this is for a gift?
- Most of the time these are for gifts that are shipped directly to the recipient. I will only include an invoice upon request. They can always be printed out from your account at any time.
