About

The Accidental Business

As a stay-at-home mom, my goal was to have a little play money and hopefully enough money to buy gifts for my honey without having to use money he earned. A few months after opening, with only a handful of sales, mostly to friends, I closed down the shop for a cross country move. It was closed for almost a year.

Little did I know, the shop would quickly find it's niche in bakeware. I re-opened in December of 2010. thinking I could sell one or two items. I sold 13 Pyrex and hardly believe my success!

I started out using a nasty chemical to "etch" the dishes. I used that for a full year. It ruined my kitchen sink. I'm sure it was bad for our health as well as the environment. The spring and summer went well. I was giddy from each new sale. It feels good for people to like what I can make.

The following Christmas in 2011, we were really busy. My husband took a leave of absence from work to help out for a full month.

With my husband's looming deployment to Afghanistan, we knew there would be no way I would survive Christmas 2012 without something changing. We purchased a laser system and used the next few months until he left "getting to know" our new equipment.

With him safely back on US soil, I'm feeling blessed in so many ways; I have a wonderful family, great customers, and a fun business that turned from a "gift money business" in to a real business - my accidental business.

**Update 10/26/15**

Kevin has been working full time on our business - now two shops - since the fall of 2013 and has been kept busier than we had hoped for. He is still in the National Guard as a pilot. We added another family member last year and also began homeschooling.

**Update 9/21/2016**

As a result of some health issues, Kevin is no longer able to fly for the Army and has since resigned. We are especially thankful to all of our customers to make it possible for him to stay home where a traditional job would be difficult to navigate while managing his illness.
