Announcement    We put our money where our wood is! Your purchase supports land conservancy and wildlife rehabilitation.

Storing kitchen knives doesn't have to be choice between an edge killing wooden block or some soulless industrial magnetic rack. Let our 100 year old reclaimed timber display your knives with heart and soul!

If you have been looking for a wooden magnetic knife rack on line, I am sure you have noticed that there are a lot of options available to consumers. The majority are made from hardwoods like maple, cherry, oak, and walnut. Using these newly milled boards makes it easier for the manufacturer to mass-produce these racks and get them on the market quickly and cheaply.

Perhaps you, like us, are not a mass-produced kind of person, and don’t necessarily think a tree needs to be cut down so you can have a stylish knife-rack in your kitchen. Well, we can offer you a truly unique alternative. Just for you, we are busy making the most beautiful and functional knife racks we can, using only reclaimed and re-purposed materials in every aspect of production.

The Good Wood magnetic knife rack offers a beautiful, versatile, and eco-friendly alternative for safely and efficiently storing your kitchen sharps. Each knife rack is handcrafted from 100% reclaimed southern heart pine lumber, finished in our own blend of hypoallergenic and food-safe oils. The rare-earth magnets we use in our racks have been repurposed from discarded computer hard drives, keeping them in use and out of local landfills. These are among the most powerful magnets available, and allow our racks to safely and securely hold even the heartiest of your kitchen knives.

Each Good Wood Knife Rack is crafted by hand, in our two-man operation in west Georgia, under the supervision of several dogs and a couple of ducks. Each particular run we make comes from a single piece of heart pine and is available in our 3 standard sizes of 12, 16, and 20 inches. This allows us to offer exceptionally unique, one-of-a-kind finished pieces to our discerning customers.

We document our racks individually so you can be sure that the rack you choose on our Etsy store is the exact rack you will receive. Our racks are shipped to you along with 2 inch, number 12 stainless steel screws and heavy-duty drywall anchors for mounting.

Like our racks but don’t see the colors you want to fit your particular décor. No problem! If you can allow us 3 to 4 weeks, we can collaborate with you and custom make a knife rack that meets your needs and makes you happy. Just send us a message and we’ll get back with you to work out the details.
It takes us weeks to finish one of our knife racks, and we love each rack we make. We want you to love the knife rack you choose just as much as we do. If you are not completely satisfied with your rack for any reason simply return it to us for an exchange or a full refund.

About

Beautiful - Functional - Sustainable

The Good Wood Knife Rack
Display Your Steel With Style!

Long-time friends Bruce and John are avid Southern sportsmen and craftsmen. When Bruce’s wife noticed that his knife collection was filling kitchen drawers, he turned to John to design a unique, attractive knife rack to display his blades at his fingertips.
John, a skilled craftsman with a love for old southern heart pine, styled the wooden rack with colorful paint textures that give this rack its warm beauty. Each piece is unique.

Bruce, a talented cook and dedicated recycler, repurposes magnets from discarded computers into John’s design. The extra thickness of the wood allows your hand to slide fully around the knife handle making it easy to grab a special blade fast while adding color and texture to your work space.

The result? A highly functional knife rack that stores and displays your quality steel with ease while adding warmth, Southern style, color and detailing to your home. Lovingly handcrafted, the warm reclaimed heart pine and high functionality allows you to display your steel with style. What could be better?

Additional policies and FAQs
Each Good Wood Knife Rack is a one of a kind piece. There will not be another exactly like it. However there may be some close to it, as this wood is unique to its location and former use. We will find wood that has similar markings and colorations and create “runs” of these very special finds. Custom requests for size and color are welcome.

The magnets used are 100% recycled rare earth magnets. These have been painstakingly harvested from computers headed to the landfill. We interrupt this wasteful practice and put the components back to good use.

Each magnetic knife holder is finished with food grade walnut oil to protect your knives and the holder from environmental contaminates.

Important Magnet Safety Warning!

Neodymium magnets are used inside of our products and are very strong. These are very powerful magnets. Do not take them lightly!
Handling them with care is necessary to prevent personal injuries, property damages and magnet damages.

1. Don’t break apart the knife rack to get the magnets. Neodymium magnets are brittle; they can be broken or can splinter in a collision. One should wear gloves and protective glasses when handling these magnets, because splinters could disengage and fly from the magnets.
2. Normal Neodymium magnets will lose their magnetic properties if heated above 175°F (80° C). So don’t put this thing in the oven.
3. What you hear about magnets and electronics is true. Keep them away from your phone and computers. The strong magnetic fields of neodymium magnets can damage items such as television, computer monitors, credit cards, bank cards, computers, diskettes and other data carriers, video tapes, mechanical watches, hearing aids, loud speakers and VCRs. Pace-makers may be damaged or switch to "Test Mode" in the presence of a strong magnetic force, if a pace-maker is in use, keep a minimum of 3 feet distance.
4. Under no circumstances should you try to cut, saw or drill the Neodymium magnets that are inside our products! Not only would the magnet break, but also the resulting dust from the magnet is very flammable. Neodymium magnets should never be burned, as burning them will create toxic fumes.

Disclaimer: Good Wood Magnetic Knife Racks/ Holders nor Possum Proof Productions, LLC or its owners neither assumes nor accepts any liability for damages resulting from the handling or use of magnets. With your purchase, the buyer confirms that you have read and understood the following warnings, the buyer agrees that he/she is responsible for all damages and injuries caused by the magnets, which include personal injuries, property damages and magnet damages. The buyer must agree with the terms before purchase. Pull forces we provided are estimates only, we are not responsible for any inaccuracy of magnet pull force. Please test the pull force before any usage.
