The life in the clothing

I love making clothes, and working with fabrics. I value people, craftmanship, our world, women, small businesses who care, my community, and love.
When I'm making clothes the woman is everything. Sure, it's lovely to play with beautiful materials and have that form of expression, but Gosyma is about the woman who wears my clothing. It's about how she wears it, and how she feels when she wears it. The woman brings life to the clothing.

Gosyma stuff happens on our 2 acre block in Elimbah. In the shed, actually. I have half, Scott has the other half. I struggle to keep it tidy sometimes. A project is half-finished, and I jump in with another idea I'm really excited about. It can be good to have 2 or 3 on the go at the same time I think.

The work starts with a flash, or a feeling, zapped into life by music, textiles, the shibori designs, or something else - it could be anything!
The shed is like Narnia (you know, the fantasy world from the novel, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", by C. S. Lewis). Music's on, and you get lost in what you are doing. You're in another world, until you hear a reminder, and emerge, rubbing your eyes and suddenly remembering ordinary life.

I was born in England in the 70's and loved the punk girls with their wild eye makeup and stand-up hair. I adored Adam Ant, wanted to play the harp and be Kate Bush. I grew up in beautiful Australia and get lost in my own world whenever I can.
