Gottagettadeal - Food Safe Pure Aluminum and Brass Stamping Blanks and Supplies

I'm Lizz Barnes, a jewelry artist whose studio is located in the Warehouse District of Peoria, IL.

I have an art degree from Illinois State University where I studied Art Education and Glass Sculpture. I am a self taught jewelry artist. I teach a variety of jewelry making classes and have an online blog teaching many of these concepts. Check out our blog at

Welcome to gottagettadeal where we make and sell jewelry supplies made of food safe aluminum, surgical steel, brass, copper, sterling. We carry a variety of tools and other extra things. Find my custom pieces on Etsy

This whole jewelry supply thing started when I was teaching art lessons to a handicapped boy and I couldn't find a nice inexpensive alternative to sterling silver. I wanted his pieces to be just as amazing as any other student, but I knew that in the beginning we didn't want to work in sterling.

I checked into the current aluminum supplies that were available and was not impressed. Everyone was using 3003 aluminum, which is commercially pure, but I was looking for something that would be easy to work with and safe on your skin.

After some investigation I found pure aluminum, 1100. It's soft, takes on texture well and is very safe for your skin. And when polished correctly it has an amazing shine.

I started selling my new items on ETSY and within a month I had to hire people to help. We spent 2 years in my basement. And then in 2013 we moved to the Warehouse District in Downtown Peoria, IL.

I've hired mostly musicians and artists to help me make this crazy business happen. My team, other than being amazing people, have an eye for detail and are not afraid of hard work.

What a joy to be excited about going to work each day!!!

I love what I do - helping customers make the best jewelry possible and leading a team of very gifted young people.

Our ETSY name is gottagettadeal, but the actual name of our company is
Ear in the Envelope Inc. A tip of the hat to Van Gogh cutting off his earlobe.

Please contact me through ETSY messages to get the fastest response.

I've tried many tools and supplies over the years. You would not believe the pile of reject tools and supplies I have in my studio. Lucky for you the searching and testing is already done. I will only sell the tools that I would want for my own studio.

Please feel free to send me messages with questions on how to make or find the things you need.

*Note* we don't make money from shipping. However, shipping costs vary from state to state and country to country, etc. We have tried to set up my shipping costs using an average of all places weI ship. It can be tricky to estimate shipping, especially out of the United States. Larger orders may be more expensive than your invoice states.

In our experience, the following countries hold packages for 1-2 weeks in customs or are commonly lost in transport: I would advise requesting insurance for these countries:

If a package is lost, we do our best to help locate your package or send a replacement.

Please don't be afraid to ask any questions you may have in this regard!**

***We always include an invoices with orders, this helps us all keep better records and confirms that you've received the items you ordered.

Additional policies and FAQs
Here's a run down of the different types of aluminum I have available:

Pure aluminum is FOOD SAFE and safe on your skin. A perfect choice for projects that will come in direct contact with your skin. There are less skin reactions with FOOD SAFE ALUMINUM, than with STERLING SILVER..

3003 ALUMINUM - stronger but not as pure. THIS METAL IS Commercially Pure and could cause skin irritation for a few people. This metal is fine for designs that do not touch your skin - tie bars, money clips...

***This is also great for covering with fabric or as a BASE for POLYMER clay.

Sterling Silver - .925
Jeweler's Brass
Surgical Steel - 316L
Stainless Steel

Metal Hardness is called Temper...
Very soft and great for metal stamping. Thick cuffs are easy to bend with the SOFT Temper. It takes a very clear impression and is very gently on your tools. Soft temper can be hardened by hammering the surface with a nylon non-marking hammer. Check our shop for this item
Stiff metal that will not bend out of shape. Use the HARD TEMPER for all charms and discs.

Hope this helps you decide what metal is best for your aluminum discs, aluminum cuffs, or ring blanks at Gotta Getta Deal on ETSY!!!

Have fun creating!!!
