I love this wrap! I used a sling wrap for my first two children but purchased this one for my third, and wish I had found this one a long time ago! I am a vendor at farmer's markets, and I am able to wear my infant the whole time without my back hurting and without limiting my mobility tooo much. I first wore her in it when she was three weeks old, and it worked well, but I would say it really started to fit very well when she was about 6 weeks old. Very well made and designed.

The Artisan-crafted, CPSIA-compliant Baby Carrier

Even when I was pregnant with my first child, I knew I wanted to practice babywearing. I'd read enough about its benefits that I figured it could be a real game changer; by my baby's 2nd night, I was a convert - when nothing else would calm him, after 5 minutes in the mei tai, he was sound asleep.

A few weeks later, I tried a twist on the design. A few months later, I refined it further. Within the year, I was helping other expat moms living in Bombay, India, by making carriers for them, too.

A few years later and our family was living in rural Pennsylvania with another baby on the way. I made her a new mei tai incorporating all the generations of changes and tweaks, and was overwhelmed with how many people said I should sell them or asked, when seeing mine, where they could get one! I'd saved up and was about to buy one of the leading soft structured carriers that I'd always longed for, but when I tried it on in the store, I discovered quite to my surprise that I really did prefer the mei tai carriers I'd so carefully customized and adjusted according to wearers' feedback. And so "Gracie and Sam, LLC" was born.

My workshop started in the former guest bedroom in our upstairs where I sewed on an antique Singer 15-90. We have been blessed through overwhelming support and have grown to be in a lovely studio space where I have been joined by a small group of artisan-level sewists. Each carrier is made start to finish by an individual, always conscious of the eventual use and your precious child for whom the carrier intended. There is no factory work in a G&S carrier.

Choosing the fabrics for our carriers is one of my favorite aspects. I only purchase high quality linens and cotton canvas. I can spend hours combing through fabric outlets to put together a collection of vibrant, sometimes unusual, and varied combos to meet the many tastes of my customers. Equal attention is paid to the infrastructure of the carriers and components such as the closed cell foam in the full buckle waist are of premium quality rather than volume pricing this very important part of your carrier's comfort.

I feel a quality baby carrier is an investment that will be used daily over years - it should be sturdy and beautiful and something you love!

Gracie and Sam (LLC) carriers are compliant with Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) requirements.

Gracie and Sam, LLC is a member of the Baby Carrier Industry Alliance, which "exists to increase awareness of the value of quality baby carriers and to support those in the baby carrier industry. As an alliance of industry leaders, the BCIA is organized to propagate standards across the industry, promote educational outreach, participate in research, and help small businesses comply with standards. We are passionate about babywearing and about the baby carrier industry."

Gracie and Sam carriers have been tested not only in the accredited third party labs under CPSIA standards, but directly by the CPSC.

Welcome to 'Gracie and Sam'! I'm so glad you stopped by. I like the "old school" way of doing business:
I make a product I would use myself, of a quality I can take confidence in. It's my intent to make purchasing any of these products easy and my hope that you will enjoy using them.
If you have any concerns about points in this policy, please do get in touch.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Other Method
Payment can be made through any means already listed on my shop page. Currently this includes PayPal and credit cards. Payment is due at time of order. If you need to cancel your order, there is no charge if done before the item ships; after that, please see below for return/refund policy.
I am unable to ship to Canada due to requirements for children's products having bilingual labeling and literature as well as much more extensive flammability testing than any other country. Unfortunately Etsy will not allow me to block a country for shipping, hence the $500 shipping charge. It's not a typo; simply a way to red flag any Canadian orders! If you have US-based address to which we can ship, please send me a message to work out details.

I make every effort to ship on or before the Ship By date on your receipt (or the latest ship date according to individual items purchased if one takes longer than another). For domestic US / APO addresses, I use USPS Priority Mail, which is generally a 2-3 business day delivery time and provides a tracking number. If you need it faster, I'm happy to ship via USPS Express or FedEx for the additional shipping charge. Contact me to discuss this.

For International orders, USPS First Class is the Shipping cost quoted. There is not a quoted, estimated delivery time through USPS. If you would like to upgrade to Priority Mail (which is 6-10 business days for most countries), please purchase the option for an additional $7 here:
Customs forms will be completed as per the description of item made in the shop and using the dollar amount for which you are purchasing the item as the 'Value' listed in customs paperwork.
Please note, only 15 countries allow tracking from my shop to your doorstep. If you see tracking has stopped at a Port city, you are most likely in one of the countries that does not update the tracking once it's in your country's jurisdiction. Please feel free to be in touch if you are concerned that your shipment is taking too long. I can either share prior experience of time taken or begin the tracking down process with USPS.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you should find any damage to your item upon receipt (and before use), return it for a replacement or complete refund, whichever is your choice.
Unused, unopened items may be returned for a 25% restocking fee. This is a high restocking fee because each item is made to order specially for you.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please be aware when ordering that I have two dogs in the home as well as a wood burning stove for heat. I take great care that the items in my shop are kept away from these things and are stored in a separate room in sealed bins. If you have any concerns regarding any of these things convo me prior to ordering.

All items are warranted for 1 year to be free of damage from regular wear and tear that would prevent safe use; in the event that damage (ie, a fabric tear or loose seam) is found, please return the item for a refund or replacement (replacement may not be of same fabrics, depending on availability). This warranty does not cover misuse of this item.

Please take the time to learn how to properly use a mei tai baby carrier before carrying a child. They can be wonderful tools when used as intended. While every effort has been made to ensure their safety and design is based on carriers used with my own children, final responsibility for your child lays with you when using Gracie and Sam carriers.

Custom orders are welcome.
