It is about time that I make this post and let everyone know what is going on.

So here it is.

TL;DR - short story is that Great Lakes Grooming products will not be for sale until this pandemic is behind us – my apologies for any inconvenience. For more info please read on.

In the fall of last year I decided it was time to refresh the brand and update our products. This was planned to occur over our typical Christmas break and extend into the post holidays slowdown. I was optimistic and laid out a fantastic road map involving new products, packaging, scents and merch. However, it is obviously taking much longer then anticipated and that is entirely my fault - it is just taking much longer then I thought.

GLG was launched in Sept 2015 as a fun way to pass the time while I was living apart from my friends and family trying to get my engineering career off the ground. Fast forward 4.5 years - GLG has been sold in Urban Outfitters, Winners, and shipped around the globe. But it is still mostly a one man show run out of the spare room in my apartment with whatever time I have left after working my regular 40hr work week at my day job. Jasmine will help out when she has time, but 99% of the time its just me.

I have learned so many things while working on GLG over the years and because of that I have set my own bar pretty high and pride myself in only turning out products that I can fully stand behind and would love to use daily myself and because of this I cannot continue sell a product I know I will be updating in the near future – I know this isn’t good for business, but honestly I am not doing this for the money, I am doing it for the products.

The problem is that this refresh time has started to drag on, and unfortunately this pandemic has begun to affect everyone – myself included. Recently I have begun to work from home in my day job in an attempt to self-isolate, flatten the curve, and stay healthy, but the only room available is my spare room – the room where my hobbies take place – and this has left me with no choice but to suspend production of Great Lakes Grooming products until this pandemic has cooled down enough so that I can return to work.

It has been a very hard decision to make, and if you have been trying to get a hold of me for products or stock this is why – I just have a hard time saying no.

The bright side is that I will still be working on the brand refresh and the road map I spoke about earlier. I will still be working on new scents, colognes, pomades, and merch and working to get things ready for the day when I can relaunch.

Thank you all very much for your support, when things return they will be better then ever. So keep checking in for updates - maybe I will finally have time to start work on that mailing list some of you have been signing up for...

We're sciencing as fast as we can!

In the heart of Southwestern Ontario, the Great Lakes Grooming Co. is situated in the Rose City; Founded by Matt Ray & Jasmine St. Pierre.

Both recent graduates from the University of Windsor - Matt holding his Masters of Applied Science in Civil / Environmental Engineering w/ a thesis focusing on nanoparticle remediation; Jasmine a holding her Masters of Science in Biology w/ a thesis focus on the ecological effects of human activity on the Great Lakes.

Growing up in this region it is only natural to fall in love with nature and the water that surrounds us. Sadly the harsh chemicals, dyes, and plastics found in many of the big name grooming products humans use each day are eventually washed into one of our great lakes as untreated pollutants.

Great Lakes Grooming aims to provide premium, handcrafted grooming supplies uniquely created to enrich the lives and environments of those who should choose to use them. Each item is purposefully crafted without the use of harsh chemicals, harmful preservatives or dangerous synthetics. However small, it is a step in the right direction, and we would like you to walk with us.

Great Lakes Grooming offers only premium, hand-crafted, grooming supplies made with only the finest ingredients.

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns and exchanges
Contact me within: 14 days of delivery
Ship items back within: 30 days of delivery
I don't accept cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
If you should notice any damage to your package or experience any issues with our product please notify us as soon as possible so that we may work with you to resolve the issue if possible.

In the case of either a refund or an exchange, you are responsible for returning the items in their original condition, in addition to covering the return shipping costs. Only after receiving and evaluating each item will a refund be issued, minus the original shipping costs.
Payment
All payments must be made through Etsy.
Orders will not ship until payment has been cleared. If for any reason you experience a problem please contact us and we will happily work with you to find a solution.
Shipping
All Shipping rates are as provided by Canada Post. That being said - we agree that shipping costs within Canada are too expensive, but our hands are tied.

Delivery estimates are also as per Canada Post - We get your order packed and in the post ASAP, the rest is up to them! Delivery times within Canada range from 2-8 business days depending on how far away you are located from Southwestern Ontario. Xpresspost shipping is available for an additional fee.


International Orders (U.S.A. and Elsewhere):

We cannot take responsibility for delays as a result of customs, weather, or any other occurrences, we think this it sucks too but your package is traveling a long way through many borders - it's bound to take a while.

All orders to be shipped to the U.S.A will be sent via Small Packet with an average of 6-10 business days for delivery. Unfortunately, this standard service does not include a tracking number. If you would like to add tracking and speed up the delivery times the optional Tracked Packet (USA ONLY - 7 Business Days) is available for an additional fee, as well as Expedited Parcel (USA ONLY - 4 Business Days) for an additional fee.


All orders to be shipped internationally (ie - Not within Canada) will sent be through Canada Post Small Packet - International Air. The delivery times for this method vary (for some destinations up to 6 weeks). If you are located on another continent please be patient as it is a long journey through many borders.

NOTE - Once we ship a package without a tracking number we have no way of knowing what has happened to it if it fails to be delivered. As such, we cannot be held responsible for any lost or missing packages shipped without tracking. If you are are buying from outside of North America and wish you add tracking please contact us for that quote.

Great Lakes Grooming cannot be held responsible for any additional charges that you may incur after your parcel leaves our hands (this includes taxes, duty, brokerage etc.). We cannot ship items labeled as 'gifts' to avoid taxes/duty, this is an Etsy Marketplace policy and as such we must abide.

Once the package has shipped it is literally out of our hands and as such we cannot be held responsible for any damages that may result through shipping.

Due to the nature of our grooming products we cannot except returns on any items that have been used - all of our grooming supplies contain a security seal and once that seal is broken the sale is final. If you do change your mind within 14 days of delivery and your item is unopened/unused please contact us arrange a return. Return shipping cost and proper packaging is your responsibility though.

Sorry! Although all of our products are handmade we cannot do any custom or personalized orders. It takes a lot of time and work to develop each of our products and packaging and its not something we change on the fly.
