Welcome to ‘Green Gingham UK’. Thank you for looking at this new venture.

This is my opportunity to produce and provide something I have long been looking for: organic cotton school dresses made away from the sweat shop in pretty and original styles.

I havean ethical work practice, I fully engage with upcycling; using fair trade and organic materials; ensuring my business dealings with others are respectfull.

All of the garments you see at Green Gingham are hand made by me at home in my workshop (as per ETSY policy). My work room is smoke, pet and meat free ( tho' it is full of laughter and the ambient sound of radio 4 with the occasional rousing Patti Smith number to get me working!). As with all handmade items my things do not look like the uniform goods found on the high street. Each piece is individual: I use a customised vintage pattern for each garment, some are trimmed with whatever find I have to hand, it may be vintage rick rack or some velvet ribbon I found at a stall on holiday. They are made with care and to a high standard: this takes much longer than a faceless factory made product. I use either vintage or organic fabric, this is clearly stated in the product description, as are care instructions. Everything I make is washed in either Borax, then rinsed in Rose Water, or Environmentally Friendly detergent. I also press everything before packing in bleach free tissue paper.

My range is small for now, I'm just getting established, but it will grow with my experience and understanding of what you, the Etsy comunity, like.

If your daughters, like mine, need to wear a school uniform but want something that at once complies with school dress codes and their own style you are in the right place, that my things also have ethical credentials and are kind to both skin and earth is the cherry on the cup cake. Enjoy!

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
If you are in any way unhappy with your purchase please contact me within 5 working days of receipt. I am an empowered consumer myself and, as an ethical trader, will happily negotiate reasonable requests for refunds. Refund requests will only be considered up to 21 days after purchase.

I will refund the cost of the item once it has been returned in it’s original packing, but I do ask that you take responsibility for secure shipping and insuring the item in transit. I cannot refund the cost of the item or offer an exchange until it is safely with me.

All items are insured through the Royal Mail delivery service. If your item does not arrive or arrives damaged I will need to confirm the items delivery/track it's loss and, if appropriate ask you to return the goods. I cannot refund on damaged goods until I have the item returned to me. This is per Royal Mail insurance compensation policy.
I accept PayPal only and ask for payment within 24 hours of making an order. Items listed as 'ready to ship' will be shippen on reciept of payment. I will start crafting your item as soon as I have received payment. I aim to have all orders with you within 5 days or payment, 10 days if you are outside of the UK.

I will cancel the sale if I do not hear from you to extend the payment period within 24 hours of the order.
I aim to ship within 2 business days of receipt of payment. I make items to order once payment has been recieved. If, for some unforeseen circumstance, shipping within 2 business days is not possible I will let you know.

Everything I ship will be carefully packed in non bleached tissue paper. I use the UK’s Royal MailFirst Class Delivery. All my postage quotes include the cost of carefully packing the item, postage and insurance. All items must be signed for, so delivery confirmation (in the UK - and when available everywhere else) is clearly documented. First Class delivery aims to have the parcel at it’s destination in 1 day, over seas delivery takes up to 5 working days, up to 10 days to the US and Australia.

I am happy to ship anywhere in the world, I cite shipping costs with each item. Tax and custom arrangements and costs are entirely your, the purchaser’s responsibility. The cost of overseas shipping seems expensive, but given the need for delivery confirmation and insurance it is not unreasonable.

I will ship to the paypal address. Please ensure the address details are correct. I cannot be responsible for lost parcels if you have not provided the correct address - Sorry.

If your purchaseis a gift please let me know the delivery address in the note to seller.
Additional policies and FAQs
Handmade items are priced based on the cost of materials, the time they take to make (I pay myself the going rate per hour) and comparable market value. I hope that as this business takes off I can start buying supplies in larger amounts and so make my range more affordable. You are paying for an original hand made product and all it's associated charm, indiviual detail and of course fair trade organic fabrics.

Shipping costs are based on the cost of shipping, insurance and the amount of tissue paper and size of jiffy bag needed for shipping.

I intend to have sales and discounts from time to time.

Reserves and orders
I will reserve items for you for 5 days max. Convo me or email me at GreenGinghamUK [!at] I cannot ensure the item will not be sold as I am aware the system doesn’t always safe guard reserved items. I will do my best for you tho’. I want you to be happy. If you would like to order an item to purchase in the near future please convo or email me and, with a small deposit, I can do this for you.

At the end of each financial year it ismy intention togive10% of my profits to the NSPCC (that's the UK's National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children)

I can customise the dresses with trims to your specifications. There may be a small charge for this. Convo me if you have a specific request.

Dress measurements are given on each description. All sizes are generouse and hems deepenough to 'let them down'so you can get 2 years weat out of each dress.

I am open to constructive feedback: what do you think to the collection? Convo me if you have any ideas or insights. Remember I am new to Etsy and am open to any helpful comments you may have. Good wishes!
