Fabric Art

I started sewing in college, using favorite jeans that had become too worn to wear. I enjoy making quilts and bags out of jeans. Once I started with quilts, I explored more traditional cotton quilting fabrics. I am especially fond of the bright strong colors and depth of texture found in good cotton batiks. I love combining new colors, and seeing the quilt change and become more beautiful in each step of the process. I love the quiet work of hand-quilting and how it puts so much of my own special touch into the quilt.

I like making wall quilts because they remind me of paintings. They are a great way to explore an idea on a smaller scale and add interesting color and texture to the wall.

I also love dabbling in other projects beyond quilts. You'll find my current interest reflected in the variety of other sewn items in my shop.

I'm a creative person, always looking forward to starting the next new project. You'll often find me busy with my hands, knitting or quilting while I talk, cooking & baking, and growing vegetables.

Welcome to Greens and Jeans Store!

The name 'Greens and Jeans' comes from my two hobbies, gardening and sewing as I chronicled them on my blog, This store is an out-flow of the 'Jeans' part. I began sewing in college, making quilts, purses, and seat covers out of jeans. Currently I sew with a variety of fabric, and continue to make recycled jean quilts.

I hope you enjoy my handmade items.
