Welcome to my Amazing Gripper Playing Card Holders shop.
If imitation is the highest form of flattery, I should feel quite flattered since there are at last count at the very least 20 Etsy shops that are creating and selling playing card holders similar to mine! Of course, it’s taken over 6 years for imitators to show up, but show up they have!
I recently came across the quote “If one imitates something another person does, it means one admires that person and wants to be like him or her”. Perhaps that’s what’s happening – I am (or my Etsy shop is) being admired by all those “imitators” Or is it because they’ve seen that many card players have ordered from me and they want to cash in on the potential income?
Whatever the reason, be it flattery, admiration, or just greed, I wish them all luck and many sales. I am very happy with the unique playing card holders I offer; and since I have many return customers, I must be doing something right!
I can now say for sure that my Gripper playing card holders are often imitated, but never duplicated!
So go ahead and browse my shop. Then browse Etsy for the other shops that offer playing card holders and compare. I think you’ll like what you see in my shop.

The Amazing Gripper Playing Card Holders
You may ask yourself: "Playing card holders? Why make playing card holders??"
I got involved in making playing card holders when one day while visiting a craft fair down south, my wife bought one. This one was made from plastic canvas and yarn & we were both intrigued by it.
Once some of our friends saw hers, I ended up making one for myself a few for them. But after using mine, I realized there must be a better way. (I didn't like the fact that the cards can actually fall out of the holder.)
So, being my father's son, I set out to find a better way using one item after another and failing every time. After about two months of this I finally had a prototype. I had some further improvements I'd like to do, but didn't know how to accomplish what I wanted.
Approaching my wife with my dilemma, she showed me some ideas that would get the result I was looking for. I was stoked! One thing led to another, and eventually I ended up with the look and feel that I had in mind.
I'm always researching and asking knowledgeable crafters for ideas. Because of some of that great information, I've made many improvements along the way on how I put everything together to create a much better finished product.
I listen to my customers and fellow card players for ideas and improvements they may have. My Gripper Pocket, Deluxe hand & Foot, and the Mini Gripper are examples of customer/player input. Without their ideas, those popular styles may never have come about.
I am always humbled whenever I think of the many people who have bought my unique card holders and leave such rave reviews. But I'm happy I made it easy for them to hold their cards.

I do it all: design, create, package & ship all orders from my little humble Etsy shop located in my backyard. Most of the fabrics I purchase myself, but sometimes fellow crafters have gifted fabrics to me.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders
Custom orders are welcomed. However, I cannot personalize my card holders as I am at the mercy of fabric available. If you have a fabric from which you would like a card holder made, don't hesitate to contact me. I would love to do that for you. A Fabric discount will be taken off the final price of your custom order. If I am expected to find & order your fabric, keep in mind that a "Special Order Fee" may be charged. This fee changes based upon the fabric, the amount needed, the availability of the fabric, and finally, the shipping involved.
Do you do monogramming?
Unfortunately, I do not have the capability to monogram. If you want a name on your card holder, I suggest looking into fabric paints, as they work quite well, but keep in mind they are not permanent.
Will you consider trading CD/DVDs for your card holders?
I have done that in the past from time-to-time. However, I've had to re-think how to go about it due to the fact that I was actually losing money. At most, a CD sells for $0.30, so it would take 20 to make up the cost of my Standard Gripper. If a person wanted to trade for a Deluxe H&F card holder, it would take a minimum of 40 discs to equal one Deluxe. Shipping both ways would be the buyer's responsibility.

Do you accept bulk orders?
I do not accept bulk orders. The maximum amount of card holders per order I will accept is no more than 12 at a time. Since this is my hobby, I cannot accept large bulk orders because then it will become a job, taking all the fun out of it!

How much fabric do I need to send you for one Amazing Gripper?
That would depend upon the style of card holder you want, but for most of my styles, a "Fat Quarter" (18" X 21") would suffice. However, PLEASE CONTACT ME prior to sending any amount of fabric. Thank you!
Do you combine orders?
Yes! If a customer orders more than item and pays for them separately, I will do my very best to combine the orders if each order is going to the same address.
