Note from shop owner We have been at full capacity for well over a year now. First priority is to complete and ship all our outstanding Orders. We then need to take some down time to do shop maintenance, re-tool, and re-stock our most popular product lines. We will be returning in a month or so.

Primitive Traditional Luthiery

I am keeping alive the Traditions and techniques of Primitive Luthiery.
My instruments are "Anachronistic", as they are fashioned mostly by hand, from recovered local sourced hardwoods that would otherwise be headed for a landfill.
Crafted with humility and respect for both Roots Music and the Environment.
My finishes are environmentally friendly, and hand applied (no spray booth). The type of workmanship you will find in 19th century Appalachia, and cultures around world. Much of my business is in the restoration of Antique Instruments, and I apply the same concepts and techniques in my own hand crafted instruments.
Please do not seek to compare what I make with Modern Mass Manufactured products. My instruments are individually hand made, without the benefit of automation (except for a laser for pyrography). Each of my "Made to Order" instruments is an individual, tailor made to the client.

My business is divided into 3 categories:
1) Tailor made, Special Order instruments requested by my clients.
2) My personal "Folk Art" instruments
3) Vintage Antique repairs

I strive to offer the best made instruments that I can, and at a fair competitive price.
"It's not about me, it is about the Music"
