About

Guten Tag!

If you ask me what I remember from high school, I would have to say the time spent in my ceramics class. From the minute my hands touched clay, I knew it would be something I did the rest of my life.

My wife and I started this shop in 2008 and began selling ceramic items a few years later. My wife was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer in February 2015. She has retired from the business to focus on her health and wellness. I had thought about closing the shop altogether. However, my daughter, Scarlett, came to me this summer and wanted to work with me learning ceramics and mold making. Early in 2016, Scarlett's work will be a new feature in our shop. The shop name is derived from one of my favorite German greetings - Guten Tag or "good day". Any day working with clay is a good day.

Welcome to my shop. I am an English teacher in Southern Oregon. I love working in a variety of media. Fifteen years ago, I started slipcasting and have been collecting vintage molds ever since. Recently, I began making my own molds for slipcasting and I'm finding it has opened a whole new world of creativity. I also adore block printing and hope to do more in the future.
