Welcome to Half Acre Homestead!

Please see my Profile page for more information about us, my work, and our Homestead.

Below are outlined our policies. If you have any questions or concerns about one or more of them, please don't hesitate to contact us!

Accepted payment methods

  • Money Order
  • Check
Payment
* I prefer payment via PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, you can still use the service to pay by credit card. Contact me if you need more information on the process, or if you need me to send you a PayPal invoice directly.

* I also accept checks and money orders for the exact amount only. However, in those cases (and in the case of PayPal e-Check), there will be a waiting period while the funds clear.

* If I have not received payment or notification that a check is being sent within 3 days, I will send you a PayPal invoice. If I have not received payment and alternate arrangements have not been made within 7 days from the original purchase, I will cancel the order through Etsy. If you find yourself in a position to need to cancel an order, please let me know. It's much easier to expedite the process rather than waiting and wondering, for both of us! (Orders cancelled within 3 days of purchase will receive no feedback whatsoever, as if it never happened. Orders cancelled within 4-7 days will receive neutral feedback simply stating "Order Cancelled by customer.")

* Washington State residents please note that sales tax will be added to your order.
Shipping
* I generally ship via USPS. I try to maintain reasonable shipping costs. Since many things in this store are heavy, shipping costs may be higher than they would be for jewelry items. In many cases I utilize the Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes and can combine shipping for items. In the event I've greatly overcharged for shipping, I will refund you the difference. If I underestimated shipping, I consider it my problem and will never ask you to make up the difference.

* I will also ship Express or via UPS or FedEx if you wish, though the cost will vary.

* I will happily ship most things internationally, but if your package weight is over the limit for First Class (as most things in this shop will be), please understand there may be additional postage costs which I cannot control. In these cases, there will either be no International shipping listed, or it will be higher than normal. If you wish to work out the details prior to deciding on a purchase, that's great with me!

* Please note that all Customs Fees, Tariffs, and VATs are the buyer's responsibility and vary greatly from country to country.

* I don't generally insure packages, but I am happy to add insurance if you wish (Domestic US Mail only.) For International shipments, Insurance can only be added at the significant cost of bumping up to Priority mail, which I will do if you are willing to pay for it!

* I cannot be responsible for US Postal Service delays or screw-ups, but please do contact me if you ever have a package go missing or arrive in dreadful condition, as I will work with you and the USPS to rectify the situation to the best of my ability.

* In the event that the address on your Etsy order and your PayPal address do not match, I ship to the address entered upon checkout through Etsy unless otherwise requested. I will ship to gift addresses.

* LOCAL CUSTOMERS: We are happy to let you pick up your order at the Homestead or meet you somewhere locally. We also offer limited local delivery on certain items. In these cases, we will refund the shipping charge.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want you to be happy with your purchase, so if there's anything wrong with your order upon receipt, please contact me immediately and I'll do what I can to make it right.

I understand that sometimes there are issues that make a refund necessary; please contact me via email or Etsy Conversation before returning anything to me. Please contact me to arrange the return within 10 days of your receipt of your order. Returns must be received within 30 days of your receipt of order. Assuming the return is no fault of the seller's, buyer is responsible for return shipping. Refunds will be for the purchase price of the item, not including original shipping charges. Exchanges or store credit are also available.

Sorry, but no refunds are generally possible on custom orders. This does not include "made to order" generic items, just customized ones.
Additional policies and FAQs
* Unless otherwise noted in the item description, my items were made by me and my husband here on Half Acre Homestead. All are from a smoke-free environment.

* With the exception of the largest items (such as bee hives), I will gladly gift wrap for free, and include a note of your choosing if you wish! I will also ship to gift recipients.

TRADING AND BARTER:
I am sometimes open to trading, though please understand that I am not a huge consumer and am therefore somewhat restrained about what items I will take in trade. In general, I love bath and body supplies, high-quality gemstone or sterling supplies, looseleaf tea, pottery items, and woodworking/pyrography. I am always open to the inquiry, if you're open to the possibility of hearing "not at this time, but thank you!"

CUSTOM ORDERS, WHOLESALE, & CONSIGNMENT:
Bulk discounts (my version of wholesale) and commission inquiries are welcome. Please note that I am not set up to produce large quantities of most items, but I may be able to provide some quantity of stock for small shops. I am willing to work with stores to be sure that my prices on Etsy and your retail prices match, or to be sure that identical items are not available in both places.
