Dreams do come true!

Hello everyone! I'm Jazz, the one-woman show behind Halfmoon Craft.

As a child, I could never decide what I wanted to be when I grew up. Or rather, I decided many times over, and whenever asked, I would rattle off a list a mile long of all the careers I had in mind. Among them were park ranger, naturopath, teenage mutant ninja turtle, and jeweller.

It was a list that continued to change and grow as I grew up, and I have since tried my hand at many things (teenage mutant ninja turtle being among them, but that's a story for another time). In recent years, my work has been more of the cerebral variety and my hands were missing the satisfaction of creation, of that all-consuming feeling of flow. I have always been a crafter, and Halfmoon Craft was born, like so many other strange and challenging and beautiful things, out of the midst of the 2020 pandemic.

I found myself very much caught up in my head at the time, and my mental health was beginning to suffer. It was then that my childhood list came back to me and I realised I needed something to hold onto, both literally and figuratively.

From there, silver-smithing became something of an obsession and I watched dozens of hours of tutorials before I even placed my hands on a piece of metal and a jeweller's saw. When the time came, however, it was everything I hoped it would be, and more.

In my first silver-smithing workshop, I fell head over heels in love with the craft and it's a love that grows deeper with every piece I make. At first, I was content to make pieces just for myself, but as my jewellery collection began to grow, my passion for the craft grew exponentially along with it, and I was soon drawn to the thought of others wearing the work of my heart, hands, and mind.

Every piece is made with gratitude, love, and intention in my little home studio in Portugal, and sent out into the world with the hope that they will bring those same gifts to the wearer.

It's not an exaggeration to say that silver-smithing saved me from a very dark spiral, and has reminded me of the beauty of creativity. It brings me endless joy to imbue my love of nature and witchcraft into my pieces, and to know that they will be loved by others.

It is my hope that each piece serves the wearer as a reminder of their beauty and of the beauty of the earth. I have only gratitude for all the support I've received and continue to receive in this journey, and that each of you feels the love with which I make each piece.

Thank you for being here, for supporting a small maker, and for helping make my dream a reality.

xx
Jazz
