5 out of 5 stars (103)

Announcement   Handmade wooden jewellery, 5th anniversary gifts, bridesmaid gifts, wood anniversary gift, gifts for whiskey lovers. Whiskey barrel jewelry, geometric stud earrings, whisky cufflinks and wooden bangles. Groomsman and best man gifts, his and hers wedding gifts including 'parent thank you', and unique housewarming gifts.

We also make handmade wooden cheeseboards and wooden serving boards from local Scottish timbers, and driftwood picture frames. We make one-off pieces, and our stock is always changing; if you like my work, please remember to click 'FAVOURITE SHOP' to see updates of future listings.

All my work is made from my wee home workshop on the coast of Fife, Scotland. Wood is collected from local sources, often windfallen trees brought down in storms, as well as driftwood collected on the coastline where we live. I am proud of the timbers and materials to be found locally, and try and make pieces which show off the natural colouring and grain of each timber.

If you like the items listed, but don't see exactly what you want, please drop me a message and I will be happy to discuss a bespoke order. I can also personalise some items (cheeseboards, bowls etc) with pyrography, which makes a beautiful personal touch for a wedding or anniversary gift. Please contact me for more details.

I am very happy to answer questions and qureries.

Hope you like my wee shop :-)

About

Jewelry and gifts handmade in Scotland from local woods and driftwood...my own wee cottage industry!

Hamespuns is a big deal to me; my first venture! I have always made things; this passion led me to study Design and Applied Arts at degree level, and into a career teaching Craft & Design at high school. But Hamespuns is my first foray into making my 'hamespuns' (see definition below!) a business.

For the last eight years, I have either been pregnant, nursing a newborn or running around after a toddler! When my youngest reached nursery/kindegarten age, and already back in teaching part time, I was finally able to find more hours for crafts and making. After testing the water (and my confidence!) with a few local craft fairs, I started the Etsy shop to see if I could reach a wider audience from my home in Scotland.

I am passionate about traditional crafts - particularly woodwork and silversmithing - and equally passionate about natural materials and found objects (especially flotsam and driftwood). I try and incorporate these various passions into my products, which more than often involve the use of local woods or driftwood from my local beaches.

Some people ask where the name comes from. 'Hame' is Scots for 'home', and a 'hamespun' means a product which is spun or made at home (hame). In the traditional definition, 'spun' refers to wool; in our case, it's a nod to spinning wood on the lathe - a shared passion of my husband and me!

Thanks for reading. If you have any feedback or comments, or if I can help in any way at all, please do get in touch.

    Owner, Maker, Designer

I am a mum of three young kids, and a passionate maker of craft objects. I trained in furniture design at art college, and work as a part time teacher of Craft & Design at high school. I am always happy to discuss making bespoke items to order.

  • The Better Half

    Mentor, Sounding Board, Emotional Support!

My husband is a product designer, trained cabinetmaker and experienced woodturner (turning self-taught since age 11). He is obsessed with trees, timber and craft process; always ready to help out, encourage, critique, problem-solve and motivate me!

  • The Wee Ones

At ages 4, 6 and 8, these three are my world. Fortunately they like making things as much as their mum and dad. Always on hand to oil wood, sweep-up, hold an end or cut the Sellotape...Three wee stars :-)

Frequently asked questions
I want to be able to track international shipping; can you offer this too?

On most listings, we offer Royal Mail 'International Standard' to keep shipping costs as reasonable as possible, without compromising timescale. If you wish to upgrade to 'International Tracked & Signed', just message me before purchasing and I will provide an accurate price for this.

I am in the UK and need the item urgently! How quickly can you get it to me?

I pride myself on dispatching items quickly, and usually use First Class mail (see listings for details).
But if you need a guaranteed delivery date, please feel free to drop me a message before purchasing. I will gladly advise how quickly the item can be dispatched, and also agree on the best delivery upgrade (e.g. 'Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm').

I love this item, but need a pair for each bridesmaid! Can you help?

Of course! I make all my products here, and accept bespoke orders. If you want to buy matching/multiple sets of anything, please just message me and I can confirm what's possible, and a timescale.
