Announcement   Welcome to my little corner of Etsy. Please feel free to browse - by section if you are seeking something particular, or the entire shop if you have the notion to. I am convo-friendly if you have any questions at all.

This is a hobby that has become a magnificent obsession - one that I am delighted to be able to share with you. It is my anti-stress antidote to the woes of 21st Century living.

Please read my shop policies and, if you have any questions, do get in touch.

My pieces are mostly one-offs and, although you may detect a theme from time to time, I try to see that no two items are identical. Each is unique, like its owner...and it's all made in Scotland!

I have a rather embarassing number of beads and glass jewels and gorgeous Indian silver and gemstone pendants and some carved Maori-style pendants. These were purchased by me some time ago before I somewhat changed direction and the letterpress type took over my life. They deserve to be hanging round someone's neck rather than sitting in a box. I have more beads than I can ever use. I hope someone out there can give them a good home.

About

A silver lining...

The recession of 2008 made all this happen...I am a lawyer to trade, and was specialising in real estate when the world changed. I saw many colleagues lose their jobs and I went onto part-time working. Making things literally kept me sane.
I have always made things, and having a creative side is a fantastic antidote to the "day job". Now, I still work as a lawyer part-time (but it's my choice!), I see more of my family, I get the chance to let my creative side flourish, and I am happier than I have been for ages! I discovered Etsy by chance and I love being part of this vibrant, creative, friendly, wonderful place.

I have always loved making things. I have always loved jewelry. I really love making jewelry! Nature is so clever with all her beautiful stones and pearls - every colour and pattern you could ever want - and for those that nature can't do (or I haven't found yet), man steps in. For almost as long as mankind has walked this earth, we have been adorning ourselves....

I think that all women should have lots of jewelry - like shoes, a woman can never have too many pieces! I am always chuffed to bits when someone else likes what I do too.

I also think that re-using vintage pieces is a must. We are such a wasteful species. I am pleased to be able to do a little bit with my vintage printers blocks and teacup candles.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns and exchanges
Contact me within: 14 days of delivery
Ship items back within: 30 days of delivery
I don't accept cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
If there is a problem with any piece, please contact me, and I will sort it out to the best of my ability.

If you wish to return an item please notify me within 14 days of receipt. You will be responsible for any shipping costs for its return. I will refund the price, less the original shipping costs by Paypal. All items must be returned in original condition.

I want you to be happy with your purchase.
Payment
I accept Paypal and Etsy Direct Checkout, thank you.
Shipping
I will ship (my Dad hates that expression, he'd much rather I said "post") within 3 working days of cleared payment, usually much sooner. Within the UK I will use 1st Class Royal Mail. Outside the UK shipping is via standard Airmail. Please note that it can take 1-4 weeks for delivery and I have no control over that. These are NOT tracked services - if you want such a thing, please ask BEFORE purchasing.

Insurance is recommended as you may not otherwise be covered in cases of postal damage or loss. If you require tracking or insurance on your parcel you must purchase shipping (there I go again) via Airsure, International Signed For, Recorded or Special Delivery, depending on where you are. Paypal does not have options for this, so please contact me for a price BEFORE ordering. I am happy to reserve items while we do this.

Problems can sometimes occur, but happily, they are rare.

Please note that any local taxes or import duties are NOT included in the shipping costs and are the responsibility of the purchaser.

A note about combined shipping - I will continue to combine shipping where I am lucky enough to receive an order for more than one item, but the letterpress blocks are heavy...sigh. What I have decided to do is to charge a sensible amount for combined postage and, if when I get to the Post Office the amount charged is over $1 less than you have paid, I will refund the difference back to your Paypal account forthwith.
Additional policies and FAQs
If you want/need something re-sized, contact me and I will do my best to accommodate. I know that one size does not, necessarily, fit all! (It'd be boring if it did).

I love to get custom requests! Don't be shy if there is something particular you want - convo me and I'll see if I can help.

Information I Collect

To fulfil your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorised Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information (for a custom order of jewellery, for example), if you contact me directly.

Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It

I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:

as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;

I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.

Data Retention

I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for the following time period: 5 years.

Your Rights

If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.

For purposes of EU data protection law, I, Alison Gordon, am the data controller of your personal information. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact me at jagalig [!at] aol.com. Alternately, you may write to me at: 2/1 Mentone Gardens, Edinburgh EH9 2DJ.
