I’m a graphic designer who makes small batch functional pottery on the side.

Hi! I’m Halley Immelt, and I am a Columbus-based potter. I went to Ohio Wesleyan for fine arts, and after three semesters I began to worry that I would be able to survive as an artist. I switched schools and ultimately became a graphic designer, but ten years into my career I seriously missed pottery. I applied for a grant through my employer to start a side business making pottery, and in August 2017 I was awarded the money I needed to start a small studio in my basement. I have been making small batches of mugs ever since, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share them with the world via Etsy! When I’m not designing or making pottery, I enjoy running, gardening, and chasing my spirited 3-year-old around the house.

I'm a graphic designer by day and a potter by night. I specialize in vessels that have handles and stamped designs. I enjoy the therapeutic aspects of making pottery, and I believe it helps me cope with the stress that comes with being a working mom.

Care instructions

Every piece is dishwasher and microwave safe. Like all handmade stoneware, it will last longer if hand washed and is vulnerable to sudden temperature changes. Avoid pouring cold liquid into hot vessels. Do not use on stove-top.

I do every thing I can to represent my work as accurately as possible. Please understand colors may vary slightly depending on the computers monitor.

I cannot guarantee color matching between pieces. Although two pieces with the same glazes will be very similar, each will retain its own unique characteristics and variations may occur.

Custom and personalized orders

Due to the time and cost investment involved in my work, I cannot currently accept custom orders for single pieces — sorry! I am happy to consider wholesale orders and can translate most business logos into mug designs.
