Welcome to my shop!
My name is Vari. I’m an Edinburgh girl living in London and, before the theatres closed, I was working in Costume for Theatre. I have always enjoyed sewing and using high quality fabrics to make unique gifts for my friends and family. During lockdown, I decided to turn my love of making into a small business!
I make traditional rag dolls with a modern twist, along with reusable face masks, gift bags, fabric bunting and anything else I can think of! I work with a range of fabrics and patterns, so there’s something to please everyone!

Edinburgh-born maker with a love for fun patterns and colourful fabric
My name is Vari. I’m an Edinburgh girl living in London and, before the theatres closed, I was working in Costume for Theatre. I set up Handmade by Vari during lockdown to keep myself occupied by making beautiful things out of beautiful fabric! My Granny taught me how to make rag dolls when I was little, so I adapted patterns from vintage doll-making books to add my own modern twist and created the dolls I now make for the shop!
I love nothing more than knowing the dolls I make have made someone happy, and I work hard to ensure that each doll is unique and finished to the highest possible quality. I’m a child at heart, so designing clothing and sourcing fun fabric for the dolls is my favourite pastime!
