On Etsy since 2007

It's all about the WORMS

My story isn't special. I was home with my two young daughters and the oldest loved earthworms so I twisted two crocheted chains together, wrapped some white yarn around his middle and added googly eyes . His head had an odd shape so I crocheted a small baby bonnet. Wow, you may say, but it was a baby bonnet in name only. This was her favorite pal for months, but when she forgot about him so did I, for a while. I began making and selling guinea pigs and accessories on Etsy in 2008, back when they had chat rooms and I spent any chance I could on there and made some great Etsy friends,
When I added two more daughters to my family, I had less sleep so my sense of humor changed. Everything was funny. I mentioned the long forgotten and now lost Worm to my oldest daughter one day and she and I lit up! I decided to make a more durable version and put a few up in the chat room to see what my Etsy friends thought. They were extremely supportive in my "quest to bring funny worms to the World" aka total Worm domination. We did some funny talking and big thinking in those chat rooms.
My first listings were Superworm, Fashion Worm, and birthday worm with a paper hat. Disco Worm was soon to follow. One of my friends in chat said I MUST make an Escaped Convict Worm, and I was so jazzed on the idea that I made him on the spot and showed him in chat. We all got a good laugh that day.
About 75% of the ideas for worms are out of my own head, the rest are the brilliant ideas of customers, my grown and nearly grown daughters, and my boyfriend who insisted on Booger Worm. A few designs were suggested by friends. When I get a worm idea, I run around telling everyone like I discovered oil on my property. Like the day I thought of Cyclops Worm. I practically ran up to my boyfriend saying Cyclops Worm!!! He understands me very well and grooves to the Worms too.
Recently, I stopped working as an R.N. preferring instead to devote more time to my Wormies and the cool house I'm getting close to finishing in the NJ pinelands. It was a hoarder house with a few acres that I got for a very good price because it was wrecked. We did most of the work ourselves and are now in the home stretch. I plan on learning to tile the bathroom myself, lol, it's like making worms, no? Thank you dear friends, for stopping by and joining the story.

I grew up in my early childhood with a cool mom teaching the neighborhood boys and girls how to crochet on our front porch. My aunt crocheted stuffed animals from patterns and made cool mats out of Wonder bread bags.
