Creator of the vintage hanky dress.
I love creating art with vintage hankies. It all started several year’s ago when I created the first Hanky Dress and it is rapidly transforming into other forms of artistic expression for me. I have since expanded into two forms of Hanky Cottages and a DIY Bodice Pattern…and, I have several other projects already on the drawing board. I am simply addicted to creating with vintage handkerchiefs and buttons. I was a button collector prior to becoming a handkerchief collector.
I take great pride and care in creating each and every dress…from the washing and preparation of the hanky, to the folding process, to choosing just the right vintage button or accents, all the way down to the final little hand stitches. And, not-to-be-forgotten, is my husband, who makes each and every little hanger individually to fit each dress.
I love to create heirloom Hanky Dresses for my clients…whether it be transforming a bride’s wedding handkerchief into a treasured memento of her special day or getting grandma's hanky out of the dresser drawer and into a piece of art that can be appreciated by everyone now and passed on to the next generation in the future.
One of my framed Hanky Dresses was featured in the Winter 2013 edition of Flea Market Style Magazine.
I also won a blue ribbon at the Douglas County Fair for my Hanky Dress art. You can see that dress in the white frame on my desk in the photo above and also on my blog.
