Welcome to Happenstance N Whimsy on Etsy! Jan and I want your shopping experience to be just as much fun for you as it is for us while we are out hunting for vintage treasures!

All of our vintage and antique listings have colorful and varied pasts and have been gently loved by someone else before we found them. Characteristics typical of vintage or used items are general wear marks, repairs, patina, rust, flea bites, chips, crazing, etc. We do our utmost to describe the items as clearly and accurately as possible, but please, feel free to ask questions, as we want you to be informed and confident in your choices and to be pleased with your purchases. Please be sure to look at the pictures and read the descriptions carefully before purchasing.

We accept Pay Pal, (preferred payment method) US Postal Money Orders, and if paying by personal checks, there will be a 7 day processing time frame before your item will be shipped.

Regarding international purchases: If you are not confirmed with Pay Pal, we will not be able to complete a transaction on Etsy. Pay Pal has very specific policies in place to protect the seller and the buyer.

If you have any other questions, please convo us as we check our shop site on a regular basis.
Shipping is 3 - 5 business days on Wednesday & Thursday AFTER we receive payment from the customer. There are times, however, when our life gets a little interesting...and we may have to ship on a Friday or Monday.

We ship within the Continental U. S. and International buyers can contact us for shipping rates based upon the postal code for your country. If there is a significant difference in the shipping amount, we will gladly reimburse the difference to your PayPal account. USPS does not offer insurance on international transactions which means if we ship an item to you, and the item is lost or not received, a claim is filed through the post office. Your money will be returned, but we will lose the inventory and the money. You can read more about PayPal policies on their website.
Please do not take offense; this is for the benefit and protection of both the buyer and the seller.

We often use recycled boxes for shipping; we do our utmost to make sure your items are packed very carefully and arrives safely - that is always a priority. Please let us know prior to purchasing an item if you would like to add insurance to your shipping. We are not responsible for damage or breakage during shipping.

If you need EXPEDITED shipping we need to be notified before you make your purchase. Shipping will be modified to reflect actual costs.

Shipping costs are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Please check out all of our shop policies before you make your purchase so that the transaction goes as smoothly as possible. From time to time items can be damaged during transit. Please consider purchasing optional insurance for a nominal additional fee. Happenstance N Whimsy is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
Refunds and Exchanges
All sales are final. By making a purchase at Happenstance N Whimsy you are acknowledging that you have read our policies and agree to them. Since most of our merchandise is vintage, antique, or gently used, we do our best to describe each item accurately and list any flaws we find. Please be sure to check the item description and pictures carefully. Convo us with questions before purchasing. We want you to be 100% satisfied. We would appreciate you getting in touch with us if there is a problem.
