About

Unique handmade jewelry that carries the sunshine and the energy of the desert within!

Welcome in my Happy Colour Shop. It's nice to see you here.

My name is Angie. I was born in the Netherlands, raised in France and I have been living alone in a small Bedouin village in Egypt for the past 6 years. Does that make me a modern, unconventional, independent and nomadic girl with a great affection for freedom?

I love nature, I am passionate about color and I enjoy the idea of up-cycling. Where others simply see a stone or a dry piece of wood on the ground, a broken fragment of shell or glass on the beach, or even plastic or an old newspaper, I see... something else! I see jewelry, I imagine necklaces, earrings and all kind of colorful creations. Transforming these simple things and turn them into something lovely for you gives me a lot of pleasure. It is my favorite kind of meditation and it makes me profoundly happy. Thus the name of my Happy Colour Shop!
All my creations are unique (or made in very, very limited editions). They all have been handmade in Egypt with great care and love... and a little sprinkle of spirituality.

In the past, in Europe, I used to restore antiques (18th century French furniture, gilding and painted artifacts) both for private collectors and museums (the Louvre in Paris, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, ...) I am glad to use the skills and knowledge acquired in that time for my creations nowadays. For you, it is a guarantee of the best quality and craftsmanship.
In 2000, I was awarded the European 'vocation grant' from the prestigious Bleustein-Blanchet foundation in Paris.
Since 2010 - beside creating jewelry and art - I organize desert tours by camel, yoga retreats and Red sea beach holidays through my little company Feel-the-desert. Far, far, far away from the beaten tracks and in narrow collaboration with the local Bedouin, my friends and neighbors here! Since 2012 I am a qualified yoga teacher too.

In my spare time I enjoy creating other forms of art such as mandala drawing, nature photography... And who knows, in the future I might open another shop for those items! When I am not designing, you can find me in the desert, on a camel or walking beside and collecting nice little stones. I profoundly love the purity of the desert, that's the reason why I live in Southern Sinai now. Otherwise I am in my lovely home, in my beautiful desert garden or on the beach for a daily walk with my dogs.

I love commissioned work and I am truly fond of new challenges: I will be delighted hearing from you for a custom order! Of course, feel free to contact me if you consider to sell my creations in your shop.

Many greetings and sunshine from Egypt. Happy shopping!
Angie

  • Angie HappyColourShop

    Owner, Creator, Photographer

Creating is Angie's favorite meditation. It sets her spirit free, feeds her soul and makes her intensely happy. Since 2010 she has been living in Southern Sinai desert (Egypt) where she organizes camel tours (Feel-the-desert.com). In the past, she used to be an antiques restorer for museums, specialized in 18th century French furniture, gilding and polychromy.

  • Ineke

Angie's Mother, Responsable For The Expedition

Angie's mother is happy to send all orders worldwide from southern France. As the Egyptian postal services are not reliable at all, Angie prefers to have her jewelry send to you from Europe: she wants to be 100% sure your purchase comes to you so that you can enjoy it!

  • Gana'az & Poes

    Assistant

JEWELRY
In general, avoid any contact with water.
Although acrylic paint and varnish are water resistant, I would not recommend you to wear your jewelry under the shower, in bath or when you go swimming (this is specially true for painted, wooden or paper-mache jewelry)
Also, be careful for contact with chemicals / perfumes / lotions.
Following those very basic precautions, you will enjoy your purchase for longtime!

Custom and personalized orders

I love commissioned work and I am truly fond of new challenges: I will be delighted hearing from you for a custom order! That might be a jewel for a special occasion or with a particular theme or color. If you see anything in my shop, but you'd rather have it in a different color, let me know too. Send me a message with your wishes and I will do my very best to make it for you.

Expedition

Everything here in my shop has been handmade by me under the Egyptian sun.
To ensure you the best possible service, your order will be sent to you from Southern France. My mother will ship it to you. Regularly I bring my latest creations to her.
The reason behind this is that postal services are not very reliable here in Egypt (sad but true) and that I want to be 100% sure that your purchase will arrive safely - and on time - in your mailbox, so that you can enjoy it.

Thus, all shop items listed here are on stock, immediately available and ready to be shipped to you.
