About

A Nutjob Crafter

When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always "happy". I never had a specific career or job in mind when I thought of growing up. I just want to be happy.

The gist of my existence here: hoping to share my love of crafting.

I toyed with the idea to open a shop when I got married and I decided I wanted to scrapbook our wedding photos. I taped some photos to some colored card stock and called it good. What an embarrassment. Eventually I found Tim Holtz' book, Compendium of Curiosities, and have since been transformed and reborn. We moved into our home five years ago and our spare bedroom is my studio, aka The Craftination Station.

Besides my husband, siblings, parents, friends, etc. hounding me to start a shop, I actually got here because I made a mug shot sign for a Halloween party. I thought I was the coolest ever. I was so proud of it and I thought "hey, maybe someone else would think it's as awesome as I do". And hey, I sold it to a lovely woman in Germany (totally legit, I'm not making this up! GERMANY!). So I was right! I opened shop, then slowly over time little things that I made just for fun began selling. It's still totally a surprise that I've made it to where I am. Truly amazes me.

Everyone asks "what kind of crafting do you like?" I don't know... anything I can get my hands on and learn? I do a lot of Pinteresting. I try, fail, and maybe succeed at some of those tutorials. I learn a lot. Recently I've fallen in love with vinyl. I customize a lot of clothing and ring dishes, cut decals and stickers, make various wall art pieces, and a plethora of really random crafts like making wrap bracelets, key chains, and love coupon books.

My thought processes are hard to follow. My writing skills are sub-par at best. Mostly awful. I don't know what to say anymore; I'm just rambling. My husband is the charismatic one. You should probably talk to him.

After two years of having my shop open, all I can really say is "Wow. I NEVER thought I'd be here." How cliche. But here I am, doing what I've always dreamt of doing. And, if I can say so myself, kicking a little ass at it. Why the hell not?

Consistently sleeps on the job. In the next room. Under a blanket. Only wakes up for food and potty breaks. Worst employee ever.

Before losing our precious cat, we keep him as a reminder of his love and his "help". By helping, I really mean getting right in your face and rolling around on the floor where you were working. Fired constantly from job, but re-hired minutes later.
