About

From my palette to your home

I started painting in college, but didn’t get really serious about it until about five years ago when I decided to cut back on my graphic design company and paint full time. Unfortunately when I made this decision in 2008 the economy had started to show signs of breakdown, but I had made my decision and forged ahead, determined to make it work.

Following the lead of the “painting-a day-movement”, I began with finishing a small painting every day of simple objects from life. Soon after, I joined up with the farmers market to sell the growing collection of paintings I was beginning to amass. One day I noticed everyone was bringing their dogs and it was this weekly “party of the dogs”, so I thought if I was going to do a painting a day, why don’t I do something fun and paint the dogs. So with my fiancée and camera in hand, we started a project called “The Downtown Dog... one hundred dogs in one hundred days”. Every other week he would photographs dogs and I would paint them. When the project was over, I made a book and a poster that features all the dogs and donated part of the proceeds to benefit Adopt-an-Angel, a local charity that rescues endangered dogs and cats.

Even though the project was really hard, it trained me to be more efficient and comfortable with the painting process so that I REALLY enjoy painting now. Although I explore other subjects, I always gravitate back my true love, the dog.
