Additional policies and FAQs
What is soy wax?In the 1990’s agricultural chemists began to develop a natural, softer, slower burning wax alternative to paraffin using soybeans. Soy wax is biodegradable and supports the American Farmer!

Can I use melted soy wax as a moisturizer for my skin?
Many companies are promoting this. Harvest Glow, LLC DOES NOT RECOMMEND THIS! Some fragrances and dyes are not body safe. If you are looking for a natural moisturizer we recommend using soybean lotion or other natural ingredient lotions.

Are scented soy candles safe?
Yes. As reported by the National Candle Association, decades of research and a history of safe use in the marketplace support the safety of fragrances in candles. At Harvest Glow, LLC we only use fragrances formulated for approved candle use.

I've seen the same jar advertised as an 8oz jar, is yours a larger jar?
Ours is the same size jar; however 8oz fills the jar to the bottom rim. We fill our jars a full as possible giving you more candle for your money!

Will your melting cubes work with any warmers like Scensty warmers?
Yes! As long as the warmer has a 15 watt bulb or larger; our pure soy wax will melt - Scentsy warmers use 15 to 25 watt and our wax will work in those. Tea lit warmers will also work.

Are your candles triple scented?
The phrase “triple scented” can be misleading. Many companies claim their candles are scented 3 times the amount of other candle makers. There is a maximum fragrance amount a candle can hold before it becomes unsafe. In the past, candle industry standards used .5oz as the standard. Now 1.5oz is the maximum fragrance amount suggested. So “triple scented” could mean 1.5oz based on the old standard or 4.5oz based on the new standard – this being unsafe! At Harvest Glow, LLC we use the best formulated fragrance amount to provide you with the best fragrance throw for your money.

What is the white "powdery" stuff on the candle?
Actually this is a natural characteristic of a natural wax. It’s unpredictable, so not all candles will have it. However, it is harmless and will not affect your candle’s performance.

What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?
Essential oils are naturally occurring from plant sources. Fragrance oils may contain some natural oils but the majority is a synthetic or “man-made” oil to produce a natural smelling scent that lasts longer and is not harmful to humans. Some essential oils (EO) can spoil and are sometimes difficult to get a good scent throw from.

I have asthma. Will burning soy candles affect my breathing?
Different fragrances affect people in different ways. We recommend that if a particular fragrance triggers your asthma to stay away from that fragrance in soy candles as well. Always remember to burn you soy candle in a well ventilated area.

Are soy candles safe for birds?
While we are not experts in the animal field; we have heard from several of our customers that birds are able to tolerate soy wax candles. Please contact your veterinarian for more information.

What are those little black "balls" on the wick?
These are carbon deposits called “mushrooms”. They develop when the wick is consuming the hot wax and fragrance mixture. Some fragrances create larger mushrooms. This may also occur if the wick is too long. Some mushrooming is normal and doesn’t need attending; however we recommend moving all mushrooms before each burning session. If the wick is too long; extinguish the flame and trim the wick to about 1/8 to 1/4".

Can I refill the jar with wax once I burn the candle?
We do not recommend refilling our jars with candle wax because glass weakens as it accumulates imperfections from use. The jars can be used as holders for all types of items in your home such as: marbles, buttons, nails, cotton balls, and more. Also, our jars are accepted at recycling agencies that accept glass.

Why is my candle burning uneven, leaving wax on the side of the jar?
More than likely this is due to the wick not being centered. Extinguish the flame and center the wick; allow wax to set up and then re-light.

I thought soy candles are soot free, why is there a black smoke spot on the side of the jar?
No soy candles are completely soot free – soy wax does emit a very small amount of colorless soot. The black spot could be from the flame being too large or close to that side of the jar or from blowing the flame out (this causes smoking). We recommend keeping the wick trimmed to ¼” and using a wick extinguisher to avoid smoking.

How can I remove soy wax from furniture or clothing?
Soy wax is easily cleaned up with hot water and soap; however, we recommend checking with a professional for clean-up on furniture or clothing.

You use soy for your candles, do you do anything else to help the environment?
Yes. You are correct, our candles are made with eco-friendly soy wax (no additives). In addition, we purchase toxic free ingredients from respected companies. We also recycle throughout our manufacturing process and through our shipping by re-using packaging material. We try to use the least amount of waste product as possible. Our hosting company is powered by Texas wind as well!

●CANDLE SAFETY●- Ok, so you may be thinking candles are about as dangerous as your neighbor's cute little kitten. Think again! Candles, whether soy or any other type of wax can be dangerous if not properly used! We've outlined some important guidelines that we recommend when burning candles.

1. Place on a protected heat-resistant dry surface away from anything that can catch fire and out of reach of children and pets.
2. Keep wick trimmed to 1/8" to 1/4" at all times.
3. If smoking occurs, extinguish candle. Trim wick, remove trimmings and re-light.
4. Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, or any other combustible material. Keep the wick centered.
5. Avoid burning candles in drafty areas.
6. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep them within sight at all times.
7. Keep all matches and lighters out of reach of children.
8. Teach everyone in the family the rules of candle safety.
9. Handle with care; glass containers are hot and can be fragile while heated, tins get VERY hot and should not be touched. Do not use if glass jar is cracked or chipped. 10. Do not refill with wax to re-use.
11. Do not allow the flame to touch the side of the jar or tin. The container may become very hot, handle carefully.
12. Burn until the melt pool (area of melted wax) reaches the edge of the container for the most even burn.
13. Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time as container may become too hot.
14. Discontinue use when 1/2" wax remains in container - it is not safe to let any type of wax melt completely down, heat from flame could break glass!
15. Extinguish flame before replacing lid.
16. Extinguish flame with a wick extinguisher; blowing out flame can cause smoking.

●SOY MELTING CUBES SAFETY● - Here are some safety guideline for our soy melts.
1. We recommend using two cubes at a time in our warmers (plug-ins need 1 cube); this is equal to about 1 ounce of wax.
2. Place soy melts in a well ventilated candlelit or electric potpourri or tart burner with a minimum 2 1/2" top opening. Do NOT cover or add water.
3. To remove wax, let cool and harden. Gently tap the sides of the burner/warmer and in most cases the wax will pop out. You might try placing the bowl; if it is a two piece, in the freezer for a few minutes. This will loosen the harden wax so you can easily pop it out. Discard the melted wax or store in a plastic bag for re-use.
5. While wax is still liquid and cooled a bit; you can pour it back into the clam shell for use at a later time.
6. For electrical burners, we recommend using only one that is UL listed for safety assurance.

●CARE FOR YOUR SOY CANDLE● - We include a "Care for Your Soy Candle" card with each purchase.
1. Review the "Warning" sticker on the bottom of the soy candle container for more information.
2. Trim wick to 1/8" to 1/4" for best performance.
3. Burn 1 hour for each inch in diameter or until the "melt pool" (area of melted wax) reaches edge of the container for most even burn. Container if VERY hot! Place on a heat resistant surface and handle with care.
4. Discontinue use when 1/2" wax remains in container - it is not safe to let any type of wax melt completely down, heat from flame could break glass.
5. Extinguish flame with a wick extinguisher; blowing out the flame can cause smoking.
6. Mushrooms - little black balls build up around the wick. This may occur if the wick is too long. Simply leave or extinguish flame and trim wick to about 1/8" to 1/4". Some mushrooming is normal and doesn't need attending; however, we recommend removing all mushrooms before each burning session.
7. The dyes used in soy wax easily fade in sunlight or artificial light when placed directly in it. To avoid fading, keep in a dark place or out of direct light until ready to use then place in a semi-lit area. Fading; however, does not affect the candle's performance.
8. Soy wax is a cooler burning wax; therefore, when placed in temperatures above 70 degrees it may start to "sweat" (form beads of liquid on surface) or melt. To avoid this do not leave in your vehicle on hot days. Place in a cool dark place for storage. If your candle has sweat or melted, place it in the refrigerator for a few minutes until it sets back up taking care to center the wick if needed.
