The Hauslers of haus2home reclaim, reuse and upcycle.
My husband and I moved into our very first home in July of 2011. Thankfully, the year leading up to us moving in, I worked at Pier One Imports and created a “hope chest.” Well, it was actually more like a “hope mountain” as my parents liked to call it because it took up almost an entire room in their house…whoops! I was sure we would have enough furnishings to fill our new home, but boy was I wrong. Once we moved everything in, we realized we still had a few lonely looking rooms. As many young homeowners can relate to, we were on a limited budget and had a lot of empty space to fill. It seemed that whenever we went to a furniture store, everything was way out of our budget, or it was poorly made. That was when we realized we needed to start getting creative.
We started by re-finishing some MDF dressers I had from my old bedroom to give them a new life so they didn’t look so sad anymore. We figured it was a good test run, since they weren’t the best quality dressers but they turned out so great! Over that year we were extremely busy but we carved out time to give new lives to four kitchen chairs, a “story house” bookcase, a small dresser, a cedar trunk, a wine rack, a headboard and a sideboard so that we could start to fill our not-so-full home.
So why haus2home? The goal of haus2home is to reinvent and re-purpose furniture and accessories to help people furnish their homes as we did ours. Along with that, we also seek to teach and inspire others to get creative with diy projects and old items to give them a new a new chance at life; avoiding the dumpster blues like the plague.
We truly believe in our heart of hearts that if everyone pitched in, we could really save this earth from being destructed by the human race. We hope that haus2home can convince you its worth the effort to re-use, re-invent and up-cycle, hopefully saving the planet one piece of furniture and home accessory at a time!
reclaim. reuse. upcycle.
