About

The Human Condition

To be honest, when I first began making jewelry, I was very raw. And to be brutally honest, that means I had no idea what I was doing. I was like a little kid, taking those first stumbling steps. I got frustrated easily, and there were times that I thought okay, maybe I'm just not meant to do more than crawl.
But then there were those moments of perfection, when what I saw in my head was actually translated into something physical I could hold in my hand. Occassionally I exceeded the goal I had set in my mind. It's those moments that make the struggle and frustration worth it to me. So I sojourn on.
And through this journey, I've noticed that even when I do achieve perfection, that doesn't mean the piece itself is perfect. There's always that one link that's a hair off center, or that one bead that's slightly lighter than the rest. No two can ever be exactly the same, even if I reuse a pattern or design. They're all different. All unique.
Maybe I'm weird, but to me, that makes each of my pieces human. By nature, each one of us is different, unique, special in our own way. No two people are exactly alike. We're not perfect, but that's what makes us who we are.
So that's what my jewelry is about. It celebrates our uniqueness, our creativity, our drive to be different. Even our flaws can be beautiful.
Know that when you wear a piece of HC Jewelry, you're not just wearing something to go with your outfit. You're not even just wearing something that represents yourself or your interests. You're wearing something that represents us all, links us all, and makes us who we are.
You're wearing the human condition.

When the Muses speak, I listen, and that's when the magic happens. I work from inspiration, so each piece is unique, has a story and a soul. Many of my materials are recycled, so they not only have added character, but integrity as well.
