About

the heart behind the wood.

We are Kait & Chris Waggoner, husband & wife, and the makers behind The Salted Lantern.
We are believers in Words. We know that reading a simple phrase can spark emotion. We are here to help you say what's on your heart. Whether it's by giving a meaningful gift in times of both joy & sorrow, having a sweet reminder on your wall to make you smile every day, or celebrate with you life's biggest moments & events.

Wood is our canvas. Each grain tells a different story, much like our art. Our hand crafted pallets are completely made to order & put together by us, from start to finish.

Our designs are clean & classic with a rustic farmhouse feel. The wood that we use adds the perfect amount of texture to your walls to give your home a warm & welcoming feeling.

We care about the quality of our product. We use high quality and safe materials. Our family cares about your family and we want to be sure you're hanging something in your home that is safe for all ages to enjoy.

We do not mass produce and we think there is something special about our process. Much like the uniqueness of each customer, each product is a one of a kind piece of art. It could never be produced the same because each detail is completely hand painted. Our hope is that each of our products speaks a unique truth to our customers. A truth that you can't afford to forget.

Our journey thus far has been humbling & invigorating. We've grown from 7 shop items to over 100, and have thousands of pallets hanging in homes all over the world. We're constantly looking at one another with disbelief, but knowing that God can bring us farther than our wildest dreams have ever imagined. And he has & continues to do so.

Thank you for making your way to our shop. Thank you for loving us and for blessing us with your encouraging messages and emails. Thank you for helping us provide for our little {growing} family. As our shop continues to grow, we want you to know that we love creating beautiful things for you. You are important to us. Know that customer service is number one on our list of "to do's". We hope to be that friend that you enjoy coming back to visit over, and over again.

Heartwood: the strong center of a tree trunk. more resistant to decay & warping. it's main function is to support the tree. Jesus is the "heartwood" of this shop.

Care instructions

Our signs are meant to be hung indoors unless otherwise noted. If you'd like to hang your sign outside, let us know and we will add a polyurethane finish. It's typical for wood to change very slightly with weather. It is possible for wood to expand or bend very slightly.

Where do you get your wood?

All of our wood is locally sourced. We purchase untreated, quality pine wood and put it through a natural staining and aging process. Unlike pallet wood and some reclaimed wood, our wood contains no harmful chemicals and it completely safe to hang inside any room of your home.

How do I hang my sign on the wall?

All of our signs come ready to hang with D-rings and heavy wire already attached. If you are purchasing a large sign, we recommend using a heavy nail and hanging where there is a stud in the wall. If you are unable to find a stud where you'd like to hang your sign, you can use a wall anchor.
