Hello, and Welcome to 'Heather's Hand-Dyed Yarn'! I'm Heather, shop owner and Indie Dyer.

I've been obsessed with yarn for over 25 years, ever since my husband's grandmother taught me how to crochet in her own brick and mortar yarn store. I learned quite a lot from her and have had a deep love of yarn ever since.

I more recently started dyeing yarn myself and have found a passion for it that I didn't know I had! I love to play with color and to see where a day of dyeing will lead me. I use several different techniques, including dip-dyeing, low immersion, kettle dyeing, hand painting and more to create the color combinations showcased in my shop.

I use high quality yarn bases in a variety of weights and fibers including Merino, Fine Highland Wool, BFL, Cashmere, Yak, Alpaca, and others.

Because I dye in the random colors that may be calling to me on any given day, I do not take custom orders. Most of my finished skeins are totally unique, one of a kind (OOAK) colorways, and will only be available once, so if you see a colorway you love I strongly suggest snapping it up as it may not be available again.

All skeins are hand-dyed by me personally and come from a smoke-free, pet-free home. Each skein is unique, and as such, no two are exactly the same. Even two skeins dyed in the same batch will differ slightly from each other. Colors may vary on your screen from the original due to your computer monitor's settings, though I try to present them in listings as true to actual color as possible. If you have any questions, please contact me and I will help with any concerns you may have.

Washing instructions for each item listed are according to yarn manufacturers' recommendations and should be closely followed to ensure that your handmade item lasts for many years to come. Most of the yarn bases I use contain wool which can easily shrink/felt if not washed properly. Wool should ALWAYS be washed according to manufacturers instructions, usually in cold water, gently by hand, and never put into the dryer as heat induces shrinking/felting.

I take pride in what I make and hope you enjoy using my hand-dyed yarns as much as I enjoy creating them.

Shipping
All items are shipped via USPS First-Class or Priority mail. Once an item is shipped, I have no control over postal delays, including Customs procedures. If your package is taking longer than expected to arrive to you, please contact USPS with your tracking number so they can help you locate it.

Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. As with any hand-dyed item, colors can vary from piece to piece due to the nature of hand-dyeing, and can bleed slightly during the first few washes, so be sure to hand wash each finished item separately by hand or with like-colors. Colors on your screen may also appear different from actual item based on your computer monitor's settings.
