Heather was able to take a verse that means so much to my sister, and soon to be brother-in-law, and create an absolutely beautiful piece....thank you!! They loved it!

About

Heather's Letters : My Dream Job by Surprise

In October 2013 I was a stay at home mom to my then, 1 year old son. A few months prior I decided when I had free time to spare I should do something I loved (and productive) rather than waste time on TV. I picked up my old calligraphy nibs and started practicing again.

As I created more hand-lettered and calligraphy pieces I started to post a few on social media. The response was surprising! People were asking if they could pay me to draw them something! I was floored and excited and so was my husband. With his great support I found myself in a matter of a few weeks up to my eyeballs in custom orders and not a clue what I was doing. But I was loving it. And I was so very tired.

After the Christmas rush of 2013 I gave myself 2 weeks off to rest and pray if this was really the direction God wanted me to go. I had always wanted a small creative business I could run from home while taking care of my kids too. But I thought that would be my "one day" dream...once my kids were bigger. Like school aged. Not a baby!

It was obvious. God had given me my dream in His perfect timing, so I was going to do this thing and do it well. Over 2014 I branded myself, and worked with Paige Rainkin, owner of Fifth of June Photography to create my website www.heathers-letters.com and Etsy storefront which we launched in October 2014.

Business was wonderful, growing, and so many of the big dreams I was working towards were coming to fruition. But in February 2015 I found out I was going to have to have major surgery in the middle of my second pregnancy and 4 days later I was under the knife. Just that fast Heather's Letters was put on pause. What I thought would be for a little while to recover turned into an 18 month break. God told me I needed to present for my family. He was right. Over the next 18 months we had 2 moves, a baby, another surgery for me, severe illness, a new job and several months of colic with our new daughter.

Spring of 2016 our lives began to find the normal again and I felt God giving me the "green light" to start planning on reopening Heather's Letters. So after months of preparation and designing, August 22, 2016 we reopened the shop!!

I was discouraged, even though I knew I was doing the right thing when I needed to close shop over a year ago. But one thing God kept telling me, was to trust Him, and He would do more with Heather's Letters than I could imagine. So I took a leap of faith then, and every day since.

This shop exists to bring joy and encouragement to you. It is my hope and prayer that all my products do that in some way shape or form.

I'm a work from home mom to two littles and a student pastor's wife. I work very early in the morning and during all nap times! Typography has been a lifelong obsession of mine. Movement and the ocean inspire me greatly. Coffee is the drug of choice.
