My beautiful picture arrived promptly, and a super special touch was the envelope decoration - now framed and hung above the umbrellas in my hallway, it makes me smile whenever I leave the house (rain or shine!) Thank you Heidi x

About

Personalised gifts for a one-of-a-kind experience

I'm Heidi, a British-Finnish freelance illustrator living in Cambridge, UK. I gained a BA (Hons) in Illustration at Kent Institute of Art & Design in 2007 and opened my Etsy shop shortly after. I used to work for Etsy as their UK Social Media & Blog Coordinator, and now I'm a Small Business Development Consultant at Digibloom.co, so I help small businesses (such as those selling on Etsy!) to start up.

I work using both digital & traditional methods of illustration, producing original art, altered journals, greeting card designs, book/magazine illustrations, custom gifts & hand-painted ceramics.

I welcome enquiries via 'convo' message if you're interested in a custom/personalised piece as I love working with customers to create something very special!

What makes me tick, and what makes me tock:

Interests:
Drawing, found objects, hand drawn typography, eavesdropping, cartography, riding on trains in the rain, astronomy, festivals, folktales, Victorian literature, old Penguin book covers, Haiku writing.

Disinterests:
Mint chocolate, burglars, things that reduce in size while increasing in price, ugly fonts, pigeons, public speaking, eating meat, not having tea.

My work has been featured in the lovely books "I Love Stationery" by Charlotte Rivers, & "1000 Handmade Greetings" by McFadden & Baskin. Also I've been featured on The Guardian website, in Guardian Observer newspaper, and the magazines Stylist, Easy Living, UK Handmade, Agenda, Mankind, and Underground Art School.

I've exhibited in London and Tokyo for Moleskine, and various other shows around the UK and USA.

For updates, please visit the links (to the right) for my Facebook page, Twitter, and blog. If you managed to read this far, then I must thank you for your patience and awesomeness! X

Shop policies

Ahoy there! Please read my shop policy below before placing an order.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept payment by bank card, gift cards, and with Paypal, and orders will be sent after payment is received.
If using a Paypal e-cheque, please be aware that I will post your order once it has cleared (usually 7 to 9 days).

Please check that your Paypal and Etsy addresses are the same to avoid delay - I post items to your address stated by Etsy.
Shipping
I'll do my best to fulfil urgent requests but unfortunately cannot guarantee that you will receive your item(s) by a certain date once they're out of my hands (postal system doesn't always do as it's told!) Custom orders may take longer if it involves creating new items, so please allow time for that by requesting in advance.

Due to the unreliability of my carrier pigeon, I post items using the UK postal service Royal Mail within 7 working days of receiving an order. It usually takes around 5 to 14 days to reach the US/international destinations from the UK, and approximately one week to reach countries in Europe.

UK packages are sent first class, and international orders are sent as Airmail. The buyer is responsible for any customs fees or taxes. Shipping prices include packaging and other expenses involved in the posting of the order, as well as the postage price itself.

I offer several optional extras for shipping of one-of-a-kind journals. You can see a list of Royal Mail's postal services here: http://www.royalmail.com/price-finder
International customers can select Royal Mail's 'International Tracked & Signed' service so their items are tracked in the UK and overseas. You can view progress of your item online right through to delivery.

I pack my small prints and journals in a cellophane bag inside a board-backed envelope. Larger items may be sent in recycled packaging. Porcelain items are sent in a cardboard box stuffed with pages from recent local newspapers for protection (or anything else handy/recyclable). Please recycle packaging where possible :)

Let me know if your order is going directly to someone as a gift and I'll leave out my business card/thank you card etc.
Refunds and Exchanges
I do not refund or exchange my items unless they are lost or damaged in transit. I take great care to portray the items in my shop as accurately as possible using photography and descriptions to avoid any possible disappointment or misunderstanding. Please check the dimensions of my items before purchase, and convert metrics as necessary. Where custom orders are concerned, the buyer may request to see photographic 'evidence' before purchase!

In the unfortunate event that an item is lost or damaged in transit I will send a replacement where possible (i.e. small reproduction prints). Original artwork cannot be replaced, so I advise that you opt for an additional insured/tracking service such as Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalised orders

Please send me a message if you wish to request a custom/personalised piece. I enjoy making these, and working with you to create something special!

Gift wrapping and packaging

If your purchase is being sent as a gift directly to the recipient, message me and I will do my best to gift wrap it for you. This is a free *service* and I can't always guarantee it will be available. I can certainly include a note on your behalf at the very least.
