Heirloom Suds - Blending Science & Art

After being a lab tech for nearly a decade, and a life long lover of artistic expression, I fell into the world of soap and handmade beauty products.

What started as a tiny seed of possibility and curiosity has quickly bloomed into passion and purpose. In my soap lab, art and science come together in this wonderful exclamation point. I love it and truly feel like God has placed this in my path.

When I began researching making soap, I literally read everything I could get my hands on for months. My business plans began in earnest before even making my first batch of soap. I had a name and a million thoughts running through my head.

By the time I had gathered the supplies and equipment needed to make the first batch I was pretty certain I’d be able to make it with my eyes closed. Note: I did NOT make it with my eyes closed. I was so completely freaked out about the lye water and using the immersion blender that my husband and I both stood about 40 yards away from the batter bowl.

Ok, 40 is not entirely accurate, but my heart was racing and my palms were sweating.
After cutting into the first loaf I knew I was hooked.
The smells, the excitement, the anticipation. I was a goner.

It got even more exciting when people started saying that they wanted to try it out. Nerve-wracking but thrilling. What if my soap sucked? What if no one wanted to try any? What ifs plagued me, but I was in deep enough by now that I pressed on, trusting that maybe this would turn into something.

As we continue to grow this from the ground up, the feedback, support, and encouragement have been incredible. I’m still nervous about this whole ‘small business’ thing, after all, I have a LOT to learn.

It hasn’t been easy with six small humans to get this all off the ground, but it has been 100% worth it.

As we look forward to bigger steps and opportunities in our community - the local farmer’s market, area craft and vendor fairs, private pop-up soap shop’s - I see a very exciting and bright future for our little handmade soaps and sundries.

Thank you for supporting Heirloom Suds! And don’t forget that when you place an order from a small business an actual human does a little happy dance. ;)

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

Yes, I would be happy to work with you to create a custom or personalized order!

How do I take care of my bar soap?

Keep your soap dry between uses and it will stay happy! Soap that is placed on a soap dish or a place it receives plenty of air around it will last much longer than a bar of soap that is left wet.

Wholesale availability

Our current wholesale rate is 4.00 for a 5.5 ounce bar of soap (price may vary dependent upon bar weight) . Minimum wholesale purchase required is 100 bars. Shipping will be paid by the buyer. Wholesale orders require 6 weeks for processing and curing.
