About

So, how did I end up here?

Although I always wanted to be an artist, and art has been part of my life as long as I remember, I first had to choose a different path. I have very strict parents with pretty old-fashioned views who (still to this day) don't consider art as a "proper" profession, so I was not allowed to study art after I left school. I trained as a carpenter and worked in this profession for years instead. It is rather sad how much ones family opinion can affect ones ambition, and so I'd never really contemplated turning to art as a full time career until years later.

I never stopped drawing though, and after a sad stroke of fate hit me in 1997, when I lost the person closest to me, I decided that it was time to re-evaluate my life's direction. I couldn't just go one with my life as it was, I had to start afresh and it occurred to me that I lost all those dreams and ambitions I had when I was growing up. I went back to school and studied graphic design and book illustration in Germany. Not only did it truly open my eyes and showed me that I have indeed found what I wanted to do for a living, it gave me a good artistic foundation in many different techniques, composition and even marketing. I learnt not to fear any medium which I have not used before, and I still like experimenting with different techniques and styles to this day.

A few years ago I met the love of my life and followed him back to England. I still can’t tell the difference between Earl Grey and English Breakfast tea, but I am working on it!
