Announcement   I love drawing, sewing and storytelling, and that's what you will find here: embroidered artworks, illustrations, soft toys and sweet things made of fabric, thread and lots of love all handmade in New Zealand. And yes, there will always be a story behind each item.

If you would like a custom-made item, please convo me. I make personalised dolls and bags, so let's talk about that custom order!

P.S. My shop is called HelloMayaPapaya because my little nieces called me Auntie Maya Papaya a few years ago, and it just stuck.

We all love our little lavender-scented Love Birds. They fit easily into the hand, are fun to sniff and help us get calmed down for sleep. Plus, they look so cute sitting at the tops of our beds in the daytime, just waiting for cuddle time! Thanks so much!

About

I sew and tell

I moved to New Zealand from Singapore with my husband in 2011. After a 15-year career as a magazine editor who worked in an office and traveled a lot, I suddenly had all this free time at home. I borrowed a sewing machine from my sister, and stitched a heart pin cushion. And then a placemat. And then a cat doll for my niece. And then a bag for my older stepdaughter. And then a nativity scene for Christmas. I've never stopped sewing since then.

HelloMayaPapaya was born from the menagerie of the little birds, cute stuffed cats, lavender-filled hearts, and hand-painted bags I've churned out in my little studio by the garage.

My sewn creations always begin as drawings on paper, which I transform into works made of thread and fabric. I have also began creating prints of my digital sketches.

In July 2013, I launched Good Night, Lala, a book of my mother's childhood stories coupled with my sewn artworks. You can find them in my store too.

Hello and welcome to my little shop!

Accepted payment methods

Payment
Just a few simple guidelines...

• My choice mode of payment is PayPal.

• Don't have a PayPal account? I accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express — just click on the PayPal link and these will become evident.

• Do make your payment within two days after you've committed to a purchase and check out your item/s. If I do not receive any payment, I shall re-list aforementioned item/s.
Shipping
• How long after your order do I ship? I shall ship your order one working day (holidays and weekends not included) upon receipt of your payment.

• Regarding your mailing address: To avoid undelivered packages, I will copy the mailing address sent to me and print it out as the mailing label. Kindly ensure your mailing address on both your Etsy and Paypal accounts are the same. If the addresses do not match, you will receive a letter from me through Etsy and your email, asking you to confirm which address to use. This may set back the shipment by about one to two days.

• Method: I send all items using Parcel Post of New Zealand Post. If you live outside of New Zealand, it will take about 10-25 working days (according to website) for the item/s to reach your country. Allow a few days after that for the item to reach your doorstep. For NZ residents, it takes about three working days.

• A word about taxes and duties. You may be charged taxes and duties by your country's customs officer. Since my item prices and shipping costs do not cover those charges, these additional charges have to be paid by you.
Refunds and Exchanges
• I ship all items by registered mail. This is lets me track your order from when I mail it and from the time it leaves Auckland, New Zealand.

* I am not responsible for lost and damaged packages. In life, as in postage, there are some things we cannot control. So I pack your item well and send it off with a prayer that it gets to you safely.

* Do let me know if your item hasn't arrived yet or if it is damaged when you receive it. I do refund should you be sorely dissatisfied by your purchase. Convo me and let me know why you are not satisfied with the item. You have 5 days upon receiving the item to return the item for a refund (the refund does not include shipping cost). You will receive a refund via PayPal only if the item is unused and is mailed back to me in its original packaging. Shipping cost of returned item will be paid by you. Refunds can take up to 30 days.

Thank you :)
