Great product and customer service!
How did I create Helm-A-Cap
The idea of creating a detachable visor came to me when I started putting on a baseball cap under my helmet while I was riding my bike or scooter to school. After a few uncomfortable rides, I realized that there is a need for a more practical solution, and decided to design a visor for sports helmets. I was a student of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy of Manhattan Beach at the time, I was 12 years old and was excited to learn the process of creating a business. Not very long after that and with the help of my supervisors and parents, Helm-A- Cap was born.
Through the program, I was named the runner-up of the YEA's Shark Tank-style Investor Panel event where I was awarded with seed capital for my business. Competing as one of the youngest students in my YEA class, this was a major feat for me. Helm-A-Cap products are available online, at regional fairs and some regional bicycle stores right now.
My other passions are running in the track team, surfing, cycling and traveling. Being also a passionate chef, I enjoy creating and trying new recipes with fresh-from-farm ingredients. Since not everybody in the world is so fortunate to have access to quality food, I have decided to contribute to the cause. Part of our proceeds go to a charity whose cause is very dear to my hearth: https://www.heifer.org/. Heifer International works in 21 countries around the world alongside local farmers and business owners. They support farmers and their communities as they mobilize and envision their futures, provide training so they can improve the quantity and quality of the goods they produce, and connections to market to increase sales and incomes.
Emre is a student at the moment at Mira Costa High School, Manhattan Beach. He started his business when he was a 12-yrs-old Middle School Student, and while he was attending the Young Entrepreneurs Academy during 2017-18 school year.
Ozlem is a designer and mother. She manages the website, handles the production process, and runs social media accounts of Helm-A-Cap among her own businesses.
