Received the cards in the mail last night and they are spectacular! They will be heading off as part of a stationery swap I'm in to a quilter in Adelaide. Well maybe not all of them!!! Thanks so much.
Putting the Loopy into Here We Go Loopy Lou...!!
Many people ask me why Here We Go Loopy Lou? My name is Melinda Louise and as a child I was called Lindy Lou. One day my husband decided Loopy Lou might be more appropriate and now Loopy Lou has stuck and it is not going away in a hurry!!! When it came time to naming my business, I just couldn't think of anything else more appropriate. While I like to think I am professional in all aspects of my business, I do have a fun and loopy side too!!
I started Here We Go Loopy Lou back in 2009. At that time, I had two little boys aged 3 and 1. We were being invited to their little friends' Birthday parties, and I was really struggling to find cards that were not covered in licensed pictures. I was desperate to find something different. One day, and quite randomly, I just looked one of the beautiful fabrics in my stash and thought "I wonder if I could make a card with that?" and I did!!
My business has really just evolved from there. While I started out just making children's cards, my designs now encompass a range of styles, tastes and occasions - Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries and anything in between. My cards are blank inside, so you can use one of my cards for anything. At markets, I love watching my customers trying to find that perfect design for that special person.
I am constantly looking for new fabrics to add to the range. I am always amazed at all the wonderful designs, patterns and colours available and the endless possibilities fabric creates. I am meticulous with my fabric selection (some may say obsessed!) A fabric must “speak to me” before I select it. Over the years, I have just developed this instinct of what will look good on a greeting card. That being said, some fabrics that I have been hesitant about, have ended up being my best sellers!! My customers really do know best!
I know that a beautiful fabric transforms a greeting card into something so unique and worthy of being a keepsake. My customers give me the most beautiful feedback that only convinces me of this even more. While some customers keep my cards all to themselves as they cannot bear to part with them (!!), many say that they will only give my cards to people they know will appreciate and treasure them. Many of my cards end up being framed.
Just as I am meticulous with my fabric selection, I am just as (if not more) meticulous with the quality of my product. I have multiple processes in place to ensure that my greeting cards are made to the highest possible standard.
I design and make every single one of my cards at my home in Melbourne, Australia. While I am largely a one woman show, I do have a little help at times. My Mum helps me at the markets, my husband helps with computer stuff and my boys love being my little postmen!!!
Thank you so much for stopping by, and please feel free to ask me any questions.
