My cat went absolutely nuts for these! They're very well-made and shipped quickly and did I mention she went nuts? "Mine!", she said. Thank you!

We have new hats up in the store! I got a little behind, so it might take me a while, but I am hoping to get one new item up in the store every day. I should be done in a little over a month! slightly_smiling_face

Watching a video game documentary and just took this hat off the needles! It feels very gamer-y to me. slightly_smiling_face Look for this one in the shop once I tuck in the ends and wash it!

About

We are a small Hobby Farm in West Central Wisconsin!

It all started with scrap yarn, a pattern for a fun new cat toy in the shape of a mouse, and some catnip. When we ended up with more mice than our cats could play with in a lifetime we decided we had to start selling them! Then to complement the mice for our cat clientele, we started selling items for their people, hats with cat ears, mittens, and scarves to complete their winter wardrobe.

The name Hide and Hair comes from Randy's use of leather and Pam's use of wool - they really use the hide and the hair of critters!

Speaking of critters, one of the things that sets us apart is our love of animals, especially ours! Our sheep don't have to go through the horrors of childbirth, and we have in fact taken in sheep who are past their child-birthing days. Pam jokes that we are a sheep Nunnery, and will take in more critters who are past their prime. We are also working hard to donate to our local animal shelters - like the Bay Area Humane Society where Lela came from, the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon (Norman is from Portland) and the Jackson County Humane Society who housed the late Spike and Bruce until we rescued them.

A family of perfectionists, Pam and Kirsten have been known to restart projects several times over to get it just right, and test products vigorously before placing them on the market. Randy researches his patterns to ensure their historical accuracy. Stop by and see what we have in store for you, or drop us a line if you are looking for a one of a kind custom order!

Shop policies

Last updated on March 30, 2014
We consider ourselves well rounded crafters, and make everything from ordinary items to those items you and your pets never knew you needed! We'll try almost anything once, and sometimes more if we don't get it right the first time.

Our items come from smoke free, pet loving homes, and though we don't allow the cats/dogs/gecko access to the items we sell, they are in contact with us, and we are in turn in contact with your item. Please forgive any stray hairs that may be on or knit into your item!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
  • Check
Payment
PayPal or Direct Checkout is what we prefer, but if you are in a pinch we will accept money orders or personal checks. However, if you choose one of the last two options we will not continue processing your order until the check has been cashed, or the money order received.
Shipping
Almost all of our items are shipped out in Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes. Please look at our Extra Shipping listing if you are purchasing multiple cat toys, as they may not all fit in one Small Flat Rate Box. I can fit up to five mice in a small box, and don't want to charge you extra shipping fees when you add more toys to your purchase. Unfortunately then once you've moved into the bigger box, my listings don't automatically charge for that difference, which is why I added the extra shipping listing.

International Shipping:
Flat Rate boxes from USPS get ridiculously expensive, anything that would normally go into a Medium flat rate box ($12 rate for US) will instead be shipped First Class, which will take longer than the flat rate. If you need it there quickly, please contact us before you purchase the item, and we can discuss faster shipping options and rates.
Refunds and Exchanges
In regards to our hand knit wearable items - mittens, hats, etc. - We will do our best to get you items that fit, but we do realize that sometimes even the best we can do isn't good enough. If you receive an item that is too large or too small we will most certainly work with you to ensure your pleasure in your purchase, whether that be a refund, including the cost of shipping the item back to us, or replacing the item with one that fits better.

All cat toy sales are final. However, if for some reason you are displeased with your purchase please contact us first to see if there is some way we can make it right for you.
Additional policies and FAQs
We love custom orders, if you have an idea don't hesitate to ask us.

We do some wholesale orders. Feel free to contact us!
