Thanks for being responsible and checking my policies page! Everything you see in my shop is created (mostly on a custom basis) by me in my little home studio. I strive to make everything the highest quality possible and to create items that I would be proud and excited to wear myself.

I am an RN with a 17+ year background in ICU (trauma, cardiac, open heart, medical/surgical units) and recent experience working with ventilator-dependent babies and small children in their homes. I therefore have an understanding of the importance of wearing a current medical ID as well as what information is really helpful in the event that your bracelet must speak for you.

I am a one-woman show with a job and 4 active children, 10 chickens, 3 cats, 2 dogs, and a deer problem on my rural, drought-ridden Texas property. I used to be able to get orders done very quickly, then I started getting more orders, and now I sometimes struggle to meet my own mental 10-day max limit and have been pushing about two weeks to accomplish most orders. Things keep coming up! I also make personalized "Mommy" jewelry, which is also a thriving little hobby taking up a large chunk of my time. I also enjoy wire-wrapping and torching precious metals. These items can be found in my other shops here and on ArtFire.

Returns and exchanges
I cannot control the post office, nor do I wish to! But OCCASIONALLY something goes awry and packages do not arrive on time, at all, or arrive 3 weeks later totally mangled. I love the tracking feature on PayPal sales! Insurance is available. If you still have not received your order thirty days AFTER SHIPPING, I will follow up with the post office. They will not even talk to me until 30 days have gone by!

Wear and Tear.
Medical IDs are items that generally get a lot of wear and tear, as they are often worn 24/7. Bracelets, in particular, have to withstand a lot of abuse. Stamping, especially if done on the inside of a bracelet, will eventually wear off. I will send a kit with all bracelet purchases that will help you refresh text until it gets too worn to repair. Personal hygiene, body pH, sweat, etc may affect wear and finish of your fine jewelry item, particularly copper. I cannot control this, and cannot be responsible if my pure copper plate turns your wrist green. (I have heard of that, even experienced it in the past, but have not yet had a complaint about my jewelry...but I'm sure I will eventually!) or if copper turns silvery when you wear it (which it does on me...hmm? maybe I handle so much silver that my sweat silverplates copper? Weird but true story.). An occasional soak in warm soapy water (yes, they are safe for showering, too!) or brushing with a toothbrush will keep your item looking new, as will daily wear, which generally inhibits tarnish.

Bracelets and Toggle Clasps.
I love toggle clasps! I have a huge selection and do not hesitate to use them for my own jewelry. But I cannot guarantee that they will not fall off or fail unless I have YOUR EXACT WRIST CIRCUMFERENCE! I will ask for this, usually several times during the course of working out the details for your personalized, ooak bracelet, and often the closest I get is the length of your favorite bracelet. This does not work, as the size of stones, chain, clasp length, etc affect the inner diameter of the bracelet. I repeat: I NEED THE EXACT measurement to guarantee your bracelet. I made this mistake once. The bracelet, a gift for someone with "large" wrists, fell off within an hour and was never seen again. Turns out that the wrists were not too big, just that the recipient of this awesome gift was well-nourished. I replaced the bracelet at my own expense (ouch$$$), and changed my policy.

I have lots of lobster and trigger clasps as well, and my handmade hook clasps are equally if not more awesome! And less expensive!

Fortunately, this has never been an issue! If you hate it, return it and I will issue a prompt refund unless it is customized. If customized and I can reuse it, no problem! If not, perhaps you can keep the "Plate" and I can refund the rest at my discretion.

Please provide the information requested and this should not be a problem. If no size is requested, I will send 7.5" bracelets (see above note) and 18" chains on the Mommy Necklaces. If you do not provide the size and you do not like it, you can return it and pay shipping both ways (an extra $2.75 will be billed to you on my end), and I will adjust the length. No Problem!

The first thing I do is check our convos and your notes to seller at checkout. If you made a typo on your child's name (yes, it happens more frequently than you might expect), I will gladly make you a new tag at your expense for the current going rate plus shipping. If I screw up (yes, I do that occasionally as well!), I will make you a new tag promptly and ship at my expense. I apologize in advance, as it happens occasionally (well, once so far). Please return the tag only (in the case of mommy necklaces) or the entire item (in the case of bracelets) in a BOX* or it will get crushed! so that I can fix it and return it to you.
*If returning a broken chain or a single tag, it can be returned in a sandwich bag inside a regular envelope.
I'm not picky about how you pay, but please pay if you say you are going to! I prefer PayPal, as I can generate shipping labels at home for domestic US orders purchased with PayPal. Printed shipping labels means that you also get tracking on your order at my expense, and that I can ship more quickly from my own mailbox. I love that!

One note...I do not start your custom order until after complete payment has been received. It is really difficult to re-sell a sterling medical ID with someone else's phone number, Kleine-Levin Syndrome, and an allergy to benzodiazepines! And expensive for me when I never get paid for said bracelet. Thank you for understanding!

If you request a custom item and we have had hours of convos back and forth and I set up a listing, please purchase it! I can't make it happen, but please know that a lot of thought and time went into setting up your special item. These are hours that I could have spent creating something for someone else or just making fun stuff for my own mental health! When I have a dozen of unpurchased reserved listings, my prices have to go up to make up for the time spent elsewhere. Lots of shops load these into the front end, but I want to keep my items affordable. I really love my Medical ID shop here! I have very few problems in this department, but most of my artistic peers on Etsy feel the same and this is supposed to be a gentle reminder.

If I set up a custom listing that is not purchased within a week (unless we make other arrangements), I will alter the listing and make it available for others or pull it completely.

Layaway is perfectly respectable. Let me know if you would like to split up payments and I will relist the item for you with divided payments. If items are not paid in full within 60 days, all payments are forfeit and I will withdraw your listing(s). Unless we make other arrangements. Please communicate with me. I prefer that payment is made in full within 30 days, but of course, I am open to other possibilities. Once again, items will not be shipped nor will custom items be started until payment is received in full.

I currently do not collect sales taxes, as my profits all get reinvested into my shops! Maybe some day I'll be so busy that I'll need to get legal!
All items are shipped USPS First Class Mail. Domestic orders (US) will include tracking information if paid via PayPal. International orders typically take 1-2 weeks, but I have seen longer times and customs issues up to 4 weeks.

Custom orders ship within 2 weeks, and ready-made items generally ship within 1-3 business days.

Domestic orders can be shipped Priority (1-3 business days) USPS Mail for an additional $2.50. Etsy will not allow me to list this as an option or upgrade, so convo me and I will bill you directly via PayPal. Sometimes I can accommodate rush orders. It really depends upon current order load, family situation, etc. Please contact me if you require expedited processing. If I am really busy, I may charge an additional $10 to move you to the front of the line. But it can be done.

I will include insurance and signature delivery for all domestic orders over $100. If you would like me to insure your package for a lesser amount, please ask. The price is really nominal for domestic orders and I would be happy to do so. This option is available internationally, but the prices are ridiculous. However, I would be happy to add on whatever services you request at your expense!
Additional policies and FAQs
Mommy Necklaces.
Yes the chains are petite. That is one way I actually make any money at all selling jewelry! Upgrades are available at prices lower than stated on my shop listings. Etsy will not let me list "upgrades" without making the price the same to non-customers, but I figure you have already paid for the small chain, so you should get a better deal. Please contact/convo me if you would like a different chain. I have dozens of styles available and only a few listed.

Additional stamped name tags are available without the chain ONLY IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED a necklace from me! People keep having babies (I have four kids, I know how it happens!), so I keep making jewelry. I do not list individual plates because my markup is too low to justify. But I am happy to make them for my valued and valuable existing customers.

Rings on Bracelets and Necklaces.
Should you wish to remove a link on a bracelet, add a name tag to a mommy necklace, exchange the birthstone, etc, care should be taken to not distort the jump rings. Please contact me and I will send instructions on how this is best accomplished. I use mostly 16-gauge, heavy rings, so they are unlikely to distort or come apart without a pair of pliers or two involved!
