Note from shop owner Hi Everyone!

I'm bummed to shutter this time of year, but unfortunately I'm going to have to take a leave of absence from Hip To Piece Squares through the New Year. I'm in the process of buying a new house and packing up my current home, and that means that all of my fabric now has temporary homes in cardboard boxes. I hope to be back up and running soon into the start of 2014 though, and I hope you'll come back to check out what's new! For now though, if you need a Hip To Piece Squares fix to get you through the holidays, check out the Yellow Door Art Market in Berkley, Michigan!

This wallet is the perfect size. It holds folded bills and lots of cards and still isn't bulky. I can't resist them since they are too cute, which is why I now have seven of them :-)

Sarah at hiptopiecesquares worked with me to design a custom order. It was a pleasure to work with her and I love the finished product.

Sorry I forgot to review this product. I received it quickly, and put it immediately in my purse for use. I have received a ton of compliments. I am obsessed with lobster stuff, and this is perfect for my collection. Thank you hiptopiecesquares for this awesome pouch! Make more lobster stuff! :)

About

Everyone Needs a Quilt To Snuggle With

I think I'm very lucky to come from several generations of creative women. My Nana was a talented seamstress, my Granny is a traditional quilter, and my mom dabbles in many different sewing arts. No one ever really pressured me to sew when I was young, but once I went off to college, I decided to try my hand at quilting.

The original reason why I picked up a needle was that I needed to come up with a thoughtful, non expensive gift to give to my boyfriend. He was a year younger than me and soon would be graduating from high school. I figured a quilt fit the bill.

For months I traced and cut out squares, all by hand. I then sewed all of those squares together by hand. I didn't get the quilt done in time for graduation (it doesn't matter anyway, the finished quilt lives with my now husband in our house together) but the seed was planted. I wanted to make all the quilts. Maybe not all by hand though.

After college my parents gave me my first sewing machine as a graduation gift. Her name was Emma, and she was everything I could have ever hoped for. I could now finish projects in months, not years. This gave me time to teach myself how to sew other things, like bags and pouches for myself and friends. I loved that I could still make them in the way that I would make a quilt, but they were small and portable.

In August of 2005, I opened my first Etsy shop: sarahminshall. Selling to others was a perfect solution for me. I loved making things, but I just couldn't keep it all for myself! That shop had treated me well, but in the summer of 2011, I decided to make the permanent change to my current home: Hip To Piece Squares. I'll be staying here for quite a while!

Now, as I sew and design, I strive to create in the idea of making a quilt. I've been lucky to have wonderful quilts given to me; beautiful pieces of art that make you feel the love of the creator when you're wrapped up inside of it. I've given quilts to others that I have put hours of passion and love into. But small quilts in the form of my bags, pouches and other goodies have that same love in them as well. I take great pride and care for everything I make. When you take it out of the packaging, it's my goal that you feel that love.

I love sewing.
I love creating.
I love making others happy with my goodies.

I hope Hip To Piece Squares goodies will make you feel the same way.

    Owner, Designer, Maker, Quilter, Sewer

Hi there! I'm Sarah, and I'm the gal behind Hip To Piece Squares. I started out quilting about 15 years ago, all by hand. These days, I use handy tools like a rotary cutter and a fancy sewing machine, instead of just a needle and thread.

  • Money Order
Payment
::I accept PayPal (both through bank transfers and credit cards) as well as money orders. I will consider payment by check on a case by case basis, but please convo me prior to sale if you want to pay by check. I will also need to wait until the check clears by my bank before I am able to ship your package.

Shipping
::I ship all of my products via United States Postal Service. I make trips to the post office a few times during the week, so your packages are usually off to you within a day or two of your payment. If there's ever a time when I am unable to ship within 5 days, I will contact you as soon as it is possible.

I ship packages via first class mail to keep shipping costs low, so if you'd like an upgrade to Priority Mail, delivery confirmation or insurance added, please send me a convo so that I can adjust your invoice.::

**Because of this, I DO NOT accept returns. If an error occurs because it was my fault (wrong item shipped, or product damaged) I will pay for return shipping and fix the error.
**If you do not choose to add on insurance for mail, I CANNOT be responsible for lost packages. I keep post office receipts, so I can verify that I sent packages.::
