Really wonderful toy. Bought as a present for a friend's baby and it arrived quickly and is beautiful. Will buy many more as more babies appear!

About

Hooked on yarn and cuddly toys

The Hitching family shop was quite popular in the little town of Hoddesdon, Herts, UK. It was opened by my great grandfather and started as a shoe shop.

The shop was passed down to my grandfather and then to my father, and new things were added, including haberdashery items, yarn and even model cars (those were my father's contribution!). So it seems that a love of yarn (and shoes) is in my blood.

Sadly, the shop was closed in 1994, when my father became too ill to run it. My mother kept much of the stock, as she is a knitter and has been slowly working away at it over the years.

As a child, both my mother and grandmother had tried to teach me to knit. While I can knit and purl, it just didn't really appeal to me.

In 2010, my boyfriend (now husband) and I were travelling in Europe and I decided that I needed a hobby. I'm not entirely sure where the idea of learning how to crochet came from, but I went out and purchased my first hook and some yarn. The first few attempts at making a flower were not very successful.

But thankfully, I didn't let the failures in the beginning get me down. Instead of being one of those hobbies that is fun for a week, I found I couldn't get enough of it. I started sharing my pictures on Facebook and my friends began commissioning items from me. It was so surprising and exciting seeing the response from everyone!

I listed my first items in May 2012 and I cannot wait to see where the future will take Hitching's Stitchings.

Thank you for being a part of my journey!

After getting hooked (ha!) on crocheting, Hitching's Stitchings was born. I love to crochet, but the most rewarding part of being a crocheter is seeing the happy smiles on the small (and big) faces of those who receive my items.
